Please read the next line in the style of Celia Johnson in... Brief Encounter. They all talk awfully fast don't cha know, but it is very, very romantic.
Also, and it's a few years old, Take Shelter with Michael Shannon. It's a small film but I thought he was great in the movie, I hadn't really watched him in anything before that.
The Artist with Jean Dujardin. I adored this film when it came out, and watched the last bit of it on Xmas day (I'd have watched it all if I'd had my way) Since watching this film I've got some more Dujardin films, some are better than others but I do enjoy watching him, he seems to have this old school film look...maybe it's just cause the Artist is set in the 20's.

Also Elvis & Nixon with Michael Shannon, him as Elvis and Kevin Spacey as Nixon were really good.

I also enjoyed The Artist, all over again. Very clever. Talented performances from both of the main characters.
Just seen Captain Phillips which we recorded over the festivities. Brilliant!! 10/10!

I mentioned this on the Inside No.9 thread but thought I'd mention it here as well. The Cottage with Reece Shearsmith and Andy Serkis in on The Horror Channel tonight at about 22:45-55 It's a British horror comedy, it can be gruesome and very bloody in parts but it is funny as well.
There was also a film a few years ago with Stephen Campbell Moore called The Children and that's similar...although with less comedy. Where two families get together for Christmas but the kids turn into nightmares!

If you like time travel movies, watch Predestination,
Normally I don't like them cos they tend to sweep the paradoxes aside for the sake of the plot and leave me thinking 'hang on a minute.... that doesn't work!' But this one not only deals with the paradoxes, it makes the plot out of them! My head is spinning. It is bloody brilliant!

That sounds good, Miranda Just been to see the new one out " Their Finest" - very very good. Its billed as a comedy/drama, and it is both, so you need your hanky plus there are lots of laugh out loud moments, too. Set in the Second World War. Dear old Bill Nighy steals every scene he's in, he's so good. Gemma Arterton is in it as the heroine, and is excellent.

I think I might have seen Predestination. Is a lot of it set in a bar? If it's the one I am thinking of it's very good indeed.

Watched a dvd of "Miss Saigon" the other night (damn all on the TV!!).
It was slightly disappointing. Although there are rave reviews on the box for it, we certainly didn't think it was "The Best Musical Ever" as there are not many memorable songs apart from the "Slow Saxophone" one and its pretty much unremitting gloom all through. The two main characters were well portrayed, and good singers, although we didn't know them from previously.
Not one to add to my musicals collection, sadly.

The GI was the receptionist in Casualty a while ago, he spray tanned Lofty! And in the very last episode of Vicious on ITV he was the new neighbour. I agree, it's been shown a few times over the years at a local theatre but I've never been that bothered about seeing it. There's a few good songs but I think Les Mis is more memorable and the songs stand out a bit more.

We didn't go to the cinema regularly until about a year ago (free tickets with our bank accounts!) I must admit the best two films I have seen recently are both animations - 'Sing' is my favourite great music sung by cute animals! You leave the cinema feeling great! Followed by the Bat Man Lego movie. Lots of laugh out loud moments. Loved both of them and I am seriously considering buying the DVD's
