They do look and sound a bit flimsy. Don't have a proper 'chunk' when they close.

Surely Kate should have gone?

Do you know I watched it last night and don't remember who went! Was it not Kate?

It was Liam who left. Neither he nor Kate had a good week but I did think Kate's showstopper was very poor. It looked like a set of building blocks!
I am surprised Stacey is still there TBH. She seems very slapdash to me but she had a better week at last.

Surprised no one from the show came to help Stacey when her oven door fell off. Health and Safety anyone? She could have been hurt. Sorry to see lovely Liam go, but I suspect a career in baking awaits this very likeable and articulate young man! Cannot wait to see Jo Brand's take on "clangers"... And how scrummy did that rum and fruit tart look?

I watched it again and I'm still surprised Kate didn't go. Liam has been better than her every week and she's lucky she's still there

Bidie, I thought it was very poor show that no one came over to help Stacey when she was left holding an oven door. And that no one dashed to put one of the spares on for her although there probably wasn't enough time for it to heat up. Still they could have shown willing I think as she was rushing round the room on her own. Of the contestants, Steven did say she could share his if that would help but no one else did anything.

Might she not be popular ? Think if Liam's door had fallen off it would have been a different story !

I think all the helpful ones, like Yann, have already gone.

Oh no, Liam....! I am really, really sorry to see him go. He was always so cheerful and he made me smile. I am not sure how Stacey has got to the semi-final as she seems to stagger from one near disaster to another every week and, as someone else has said, she is slap-dash. I think this year's winner is a toss-up between Sophie and Steven.

Very sorry to see Liam go. He did make a hash of things this week, though. I shall have to find a new favourite now. He may be talented, but I just can't warm to Steven at all.

I think all the helpful ones, like Yann, have already gone. Miranda, I meant one of the producers from the show should have rushed to help. Stacey could have been badly burnt and to show her physically holding the door of a working oven closed was not good, imo. (Someone, think of the children!) I suppose the 'kitchens' are dismantled and repositioned as the numbers go down so it is probably no reflection on the make of cooker, more on the person/people who re-installed it. But for no one official to appear on set and at least light the nearest free oven (one of the bakers did offer space in their oven) was pretty poor.

You know Bidie, I never wholly trust that what I see in this kind of pre-recorded programme is an entirely true reflection of what actually happened. There must surely be techies standing by in the tent in case any of the equipment goes wrong, not to mention health and safety people - think of the fire risk of cooking in a tent. I can well imagine the scenario where the oven door came off (I thought she was a bit rough with it btw), someone rushes in to sort it out but the producers think, "Hang on a minute, it would make good dramatic television to have Stacey having to hold the door in place to get her cake finished". It would be easy for them to film that afterwards and edit it in. My oven door gets quite hot when I am baking so I don't think I could hold it in place like that. Sorry to be such a cynic but I have heard in previous years that things didn't always appear on screen in Bake Off the way they happened at the time, due to clever editing.

Yes I thought she would have burnt herself holding it like that, perhaps their ovens don't do that. I know a lot of the contestants have said it takes them a few weeks to get used to the ovens. But I presume they have someone checking them before they are used. I liked this week pastry always sorts them out. A good suet pastry is lovely and as suet is a completely natural unprocessed product it is an A1 foodstuff and much better for you than making pastry with margarine,
