Apparently Prue has already tweeted the name of the winner, in error. Oops! I haven't seen it, just a pic of the Tweet with the name redacted!

I know she really is daft isn’t she “ oh I’m in India and didn’t realise the time difference” 🤦♀️🤦♀️..... IMHO she was the weakest link in the series.

The result, for any who wants to know in advance, can be found on Sky News. The article on their website gives the reader the chance 'flip' the screen to learn the result.

I have to say I wasn't all that impressed by her. I also got a bit sick of Paul forever saying how this was the best/strongest/most difficult or whatever than in all the eight years of Bake Off. i.e. This is sooooo much better than anything done on the BBC. Mind you after reading a critic likening the Hollywood handshake to the Pope extending the papal ring I haven't been able to watch him proffer the handshake without laughing.

I agree. And also, I’d much prefer more realistic challenges that don’t just stress out the contestants and drive them to tears and whatever...seems like style over substance has become the rule ?

I've been watching one of the previous series . The first challenge was scones! I must say I don't think making the showstoppers so complicated adds much. None of them looked particularly good last week. I'd rather see a simpler concept well done.

IMO, as the series has progressed, from its humble beginnings they have realised the amateurs are "up" for tougher challenges, and have adjusted the format accordingly. The charm and basic decency survived the move go Ch4. The advert breaks (so many of them) are annoying, and I miss Mary, Sue and Mel - but for me Pru is as good as Mary (who, lets face it, might have been thinking of retiring...) and Sandi and Noel are good fun.

I enjoyed the C4 format too, I think I prefer Sandi and Noel to Mel &Sue! I pre-record and fast forward the ad breaks so they are not annoying. Am not going to look at any social media tonight regarding it so as not to see the result by mistake.

Someone told me this afternoon who the winner is!!!!! And this is a person who watches the show themself, can you believe? I am hoping against hope that they got it wrong. If not, this will be the second week running Bake Off has been spoilt for me by the result being revealed before I have seen it.

Sophie was constantly good all series....knew she was going to win, weeks ago - Kate, for me, was a surprise finalist, on the edge of leaving nearly every week but her final bake, was very good - Steven, lost it with his final bake.

Well, I'm happy. I liked Sophie and she was a worthy winner. Kate really pulled out the stops, too, so well done her. Steven really fluffed it, but I'm afraid I couldn't take to him at all so, without wishing to wallow in schadenfreude, it would be hypocritical to say I'm sorry for him.
