I think bake off has lost its way this series. I wasn't looking forward to a channel change but surprised myself by really enjoying the first series, even warming to Noel who I wasn't previously very fond of. However while the bakers are all very competent (compared to me) some of the tasks are certainly not something you would rustle up on a wet Saturday afternoon and as for the Holywood handshake don't get me started. For me, better than last year - tasks can be very hard, the showstopper has always been.... but last night, with the pie’s, it wasn’t, last weeks was crazy. Tec challenge was a great one last night, with the well of love and the samosas was a bit different but still pastry. With most of the challenges there has been, nearly all have needed lots of practice and not all for your average wet Saturday afternoon.

I agree that there are now far too many Hollywood handshakes.

But he is the one TASTING the items. If he feels it merits a handshake should he have to consider if he has already 'awarded' 2 by the time he reaches the last contestant?
It doesn't mean anything - the only thing that does (slightly) is Star Baker.

I think the handshake is a little ego trip for Paul.

Especially now it gets applauded every time. It never used to.

That's hardly HIS fault though, is it? Mel and Sue highlighted it in the early series and it has gone on since then.

Actually the applause has happened on the C4 edition. On the BBC, the contestant would get a few 'well done' from M+S and the other contestants but it certainly wasn't the big whoop whoop that is now.

Some needed to work on their French pronounciation. The name of the technical was Puits d'Amour (Well of Love), not Puits de Mort (Well of Death)!

I thought applause was a good thing....maybe jazz hands from next week, to stop the so called decline of GBBO.

Can’t see the point of Noel To sell wacky shirts? Sandy had a nice cat one last year, it sold out straight away.

I liked Sandi's blouse last week with the cherry print.

Also, some need to work on their spelling. Its pronunciation not pronounciation. We all make mistakes.
