If you've never eaten vegan food, you can't have an opinion on it. Like any food, taste depends on how it's cooked.

There is a vegan café in town, everything I have had is lovely. I only go when I am with a friend who is vegan, but honestly their cakes are fine. I will be honest and say not as good as a cake with cream and butter in them, but still nice, completely edible and tasty as vegetable oil works well in a cake. They sometimes do a pistachio and olive oil cake that is lovely and I often go for that if some is left. All the savoury stuff is very good. I haven't tried a vegan ganache and I am told it is very hard to do, so I wonder if they make them try that.

I'm looking forward to the programme, I don't know as much as I should about the vegan diet, I'm ashamed to say. The items shown in the trailer at the end of last week looked intriguing

Can you use avocado oil in vegan pastry? I read something at the weekend about avocado not being vegan.

What's not vegan about an avocado, marion?

I don't know! I was very surprised to see this "fact" in print but I can't remember if they said why.
Ps just googled and it has something to do with using bee slaves to produce them! Migratory beekeeping, trucking them over large distances apparently. That is on the newscientist.com website but the rest of the article is behind a paywall!!!! Perhaps it is an extreme vegan stance as it covers onions, almonds and cucumbers as well. I mean at that rate you could peg out!

I got thoroughly confused for a moment and thought Kim Joy was making a boxes-themed cake!

It's made with vegan butter. Which is mostly coconut oil, vinegar and a couple of other things.

Enjoyed vegan week, unlike the final 6 and Paul.
A tasty disaster saves Rudy, construction let her down and Jon just, didn’t have it in him, purple mash, noooo! Rahul’s drizzle lost star baker for him but a Fox does it for Kim, stunning, amazing - she’s going to win this thing. Too much apple for Briony and looks great tastes awful, was Manon’s downfall.
Word of the week - Aquafaba.

They were asked which of 5 things on screen was vegan and they all said all of them. But apparently none of them were because of slave bees.
Just did a quick google and these came up immediately:
Honey. Alcohol. Red coloured foods. Fruit juices. Marshmallows and Haribo style soft sweets. Roast vegetables and Mash. White sugar. Dark chocolate Worcestershire sauce Pesto
