See I said I wouldn’t survive, no honey chocolate, marshmallows, fruit juice, cherries, mash nor meat or dairy

Coconut milk - bleugh! Also, lovely as Rahul seems to be I'm afraid I hate curry and the like so I'd struggle with a lot of his recipes.

Enjoyed vegan week, unlike the final 6 and Paul. Word of the week - Aquafaba. Yes, I enjoyed it and don’t mind trying it. If you’re not told about vegan versions, you prob wouldn’t know, although vegan ingredients will never be robust enough for sponge cakes to work properly. Is it “aquafava”? Of course some Spanish pronounce Vs as Bs. I only say that because it sound like fava beans which are broad beans and therefore pulses, like chick peas. Anyway, it was a revelation that it makes good meringue ( and even turns snow white ), but then I realised that, like a number of other things in life, it’s just protein and water, so why wouldn’t it behave in the same way as animal products with those ingredients?

I don’t like nuts, especially coconut flesh, but strangely, I do like coconut milk - but not the “light” version, only full fat. I also like coconut oil as a hand cream- you don’t need much at all as it melts at body temperature and smells lovely.

For those with dairy intolerance this week will have been of great interest. The items used were varied and the results all looked stunning.
Danish week next week - bring it on Sandi!

I know virtually nothing about vegan food so found it all extremely interesting. I learned of ingredients I didn't know the existence of...Indian black salt and nutritional yeast for example. ...and who knew that chickpea "juice" could produce beautiful meringue? I love chickpeas so the next time I cook some I might give that a try. I thought everything looked stunning but I was so sorry to see Jon go as he seems such a nice man.
I can't believe it is quarter final week next!

Well I don't agree with that star baker and I'm not sure I agree with the loser either. {SPOILER:Click to Show}I think Briony was robbed there and Rahul lucky to stay, but he and Manon were pretty close. Poor Kim Joy!!!!!!!

Thirded! {SPOILER:Click to Show}Manon may have drifted from the brief, but at least her bakes seem to have been edible, unlike Rahul's. I thought his figure looked rather amateurish, too, in comparison to Manon's.

"Well I don't agree with that star baker and I'm not sure I agree with the loser either". Me neither, and I agree with the the two you mention in your spoiler!

SORRY - it’s aired - so why the spoilers.
Manon or Rahul, I was 90% sure it was going to be Rahul, burnt offerings can’t be good at this stage, 5th in tec too but he bakes another day. Ruby was a deserved star baker, the Rye Bread won it for her, Briony, yes won the tec challenge but not good with the Rye or Nana Pat.....Kim-Joy lost it by the end, but she would have been a contender for SB if that final bake, had the taste, it looked amazing (loved the egg bees for the sandwich).
‘It’s really bad ‘

I just used spoilers because no-one else has posted so I wondered if people were still watching it or waiting for C47 and I didn't want anyone to see it by mistake. I did wonder if it was worth it, but decided to err on the side of caution!

I'm not sure who should have gone - the one who offered burnt Danish or the one who didn't bake Danish. Think they could have tossed a coin to decide.
