Flo was so lovely, but I'm afraid any bread coloured black would put me off, no matter how well it tasted.
Her lemon curd ("kerd") was well received by everyong.
Still smiling at the Flamingo cake. And the viewers attempt at Flo's divine Water melon design.
Paul took the ribbing in good part. I assume Noel will be the guest next week?

Loved Caramel week - what a brilliant idea.
My Dutch SIL always brings Strupwaffles with her when she visits. Not sure I would have made one and cut it in half. Too fiddly. Surely you could use half the dough to make two and then sandwich them?
Agree they are scrummy though.
("dip my nuts in caramel"....best line of the night. Pru and Sandi held it together as long as they could.....)

My favourite bit of An extra slice is the photos of things people have made. The programme makes me laugh from start to finish. I cannot take to Cherish, she just had to criticize the shortbread, and Henning makes my flesh creep.

Oh I like Henning. He reminds me of Rich Hall.
And as he says, it is not easy to be a German comedian in this country.
"Knock knock" "Who's there?" "The Gestapo".
Cherish can be tricky but remember she is not speaking in her first language and when it comes to sweet things everyone has a different idea of just how sweet they should be and the preferred texture for shortbread.
The homes bakes are brilliant. That amazing sewing machine which was greeting with the words "I don't use that sort of machine any more" from the mother/in law it was presented to.... gaah
The hedgehog cup cakes did it for me. They looked ready to appear in Doctor Who....

I was surprised at how strained An Extra Slice was. Two comedians I usually find very funny but... I don't know, it was all a bit flat for me.

I wondered if it had had to be harshly edited for time? Conversations started and then vanished....

How many times a week do C4 screen this? is it everyday or does it just seem like it?

Surprised how bad some of the show stoppers were especially as they get to practice and of course taste them many times

I don't wish to sound mean, but I'm glad Stephen got taken down a peg - there's something rather smug about him, I find. I'm glad Liam didn't go. Sometimes it seems there's a danger the showstopper can have too much weight given to it, but James demonstrated that consistant mediocrity can be as damaging as a one-off disaster.
For the most part I'm enjoying the series, having feared it would be ruined. However, Sandi and Noel lack the spark of Mel and Sue, and the adverts are infuriating, even though I record the show and speed through them. It's just not the same: it's like the difference between own-brand jaffa cakes and McVities.

I was taught by my Dutch friends that one should place one's strup on top of your cup of tea/coffee to melt the caramel before munching. Not exactly dignified but enormously satisfying!!!!
Much enjoyed this week, though now have an urgent need to make jelly and blancmange at the weekend!

I agree about the smugness though he does 'food' for a living so probably thinks he's very clever. I like sandy, but can't see the point of Noel.

How many times a week do C4 screen this? is it everyday or does it just seem like it? It's on at least six times a week and possibly more. I've noticed: Tuesday on Channel 4 and plus1. Saturday on E4 and plus 1 Sunday on 4Seven Monday on 4Seven

Yes stroopwafels (sp?) are absolutely wonderful when allowed to warm slightly by being placed over your cup of coffee , mmmm want one now!
