There was a bit of comment about the funding etc, as stated above, on Sky News as well, so perhaps someone somewhere has passed comment and they are all following up. Never mentioned any of this when they were raving about our success during the Games of course. And as you say, when the athletes come back they will be all over them like a rash.
I also get ticked off when people moan about coverage on the BBC being too GB oriented, even jingoistic. Excuse but what does that first B stand for again? and if they think we are bad, have they ever listened to US coverage?

Quelle surprise! On BBC Breakfast this morning they are bigging up the arrival back of the Rio althletes. Sticks in the throat.
The criticism by some of just showing our athletes is unjustified. Do these people think that other countries don't focus on their own? The only athlete that all countries would focus on is Usain Bolt as he is a global superstar.

The crucial question seems to be "has it sunk in yet?" Btw, does everbody know that team GB won more medals this time than last time, you heard it here first

I'm old enough to remember when the BBC lauded the country's achievements, and was proud to be the 'B'BC.

It does feel as though the athletes are being treated as some sort of "product" or media plaything.
Still, give it a day or so and we will be back to all the "regular" doom and gloom stories.

I do hope the Paras aren't a total mess....these athletes, in my opinion, really deserve a time to shine. I enjoyed the London Paras as much as the Olympics....such dedication flying in the face of adversity.

I was mildly surprised they brought almost all the athletes home on the same plane – I thought that was not done any more. Clearly it made a great impact when it arrived safely! The gold nose was a nice touch.

Rio are very short of money it seems. It would have been a nice gesture if some of the wealthier countries could have chipped in for the Paras.

I haven't been impressed with C4's coverage in the past.

I enjoyed the London Paras as much as the Olympics....such dedication flying in the face of adversity. The London Paras were unusual though (I reckon) because the branding was exactly the same as for the Olympics. The volunteers/games makers were exactly the same. It was almost invisible to the viewer that this was a different event. In Rio a lot of the venues were not properly "dressed" by the time the Games started so I doubt the Paras will look all that great. If they have run out of money they will not be making any improvements I suspect. I also wondered if they would be asking for donations from the wealthier countries. And given how few people attended the first event, I cannot see full houses at the second. A pity and I hope I am proved wrong.
