Oh no, not Federer I must be Nadal's only fan on here...? But I shall have something else to watch on Sunday... come on England, only the Kiwis to beat now No, I am a great Nadal fan, too. To me he is the best of them all because of his attitude, fighting spirit and genuine humility.

Hope Halep can play well today. I am not a SW fan and would like to see a real match today.

That's interesting. It sounds as if she is struggling a bit with being a royal and as you say, not being very well advised.
I'm not a royalist in any shape or form, but one I do admire is Princess Anne, who for many years got on with doing a great job as president of the Save the Children fund, before it was fashionable to be attached to charities, using her royal status to bring about change. She got off to a fairly rocky start, with all that stuff about being a young couple with a mortgage (though it was Mark Phillips who said that, not her) but matured well and I hope Meghan will emulate her rather than some of her less attractive in-laws.

Well. Go Halep! I must say she seems a different player this year. She was always a real Mrs. Misery before but is now much more positive.
PS. Note to the commentary team. Serena isnt the only player on the court.

I agree marion. Am thoroughly fed up with their constant reference to SW as though she wasn't allowed to lose but had every right to win.

Brilliant, brilliant match. Simone couldn't believe she'd actually done it. Well done.

Well done, Simone!!! I always disliked watching her play as she was forever moaning and shouting at the box. That sports psychologist was money well spent!!!!!

Yes indeed. I like the way she has alluded to trying to become a better person. She said that in a press conference too, saying she meant both on and off the court. Im very pleased she won.

Wow. What a terrific match. Halep was totally focussed throughout. Williams was totally outplayed. Well done Simona.

Four lawnmowers have started up in our lane - it's possible they were all indoors watching the match. Another who thought Simona's speech was lovely. Wanted the Duchess of Cambridge to be in the royal box and when she was, didn't know she would get to meet her. Apparently the DoC plays a lot of tennis. Great fan of the game. Oh well. That's my sport fix and guilt free afternoon sit downs over for another year ..... after tomorrow that is .

They are currently showing Simona being interviewed by Sue. She seems thrilled to have the life membership and is already wearing her member's badge. And was thrilled to meet Kate. A very nice interview.
