Not sure if this has been shown previously but it looks promising with a feature length opening episode 21.00 to 23.15 today (9th August) on More4.
Could be worth a look for fans of subtitled crime series.

I might give it a look but Italian crime dramas tend to be quite gory.

Post watershed time slot so it will be interesting to see how gory it is!

It was the lack of cast members/extras that got me with Montelbano. There were more people in the police station than the entire town...

Enjoyed Thou Shalt Not. More Midsommer than Wallander, the female inspector was a bit of a maverick (called Valeria Forre. Was Valeria not Finella Fieldings character in Carry on Screaming?). Decent plot (LOTS in the cast, plenty extras), nice Italian scenery and family story background for the inspector.
Next weeks episode is just one hour so it will be interesting to see how it is paced.

Yeah. So not too gory then? I might watch it on catch up.

No, not gory at all. Couple of swear words but more a murder with various possible suspects before the reveal at the end.

I know I may be in the minority here but I wish they would 'dub' these programmes.
When I watch telly, I am usually doing three things at once (suduko, i pad and reading the paper) and glancing at the telly. So it's a waste of time me watching what are probable really good programmes.

I for one much prefer subtitles! But then I use them on English language shows as well, lol. I get really distracted by dubbing and cannot quite get over the mouth not making the right shape for the words!
I enjoyed this even though I thought the lead was a little bit of a pain (oh look at me being a bit of a maverick). But the plot rolled out rather well IMO. And how nice it is set in Turin! We never see things set there do we? I went there once from a business trip to Milan and thought it would be awful, just an industrial city, but the bits we were in were very pleasant.

The lead is one of those annoying women who looks lovely with minimal make up. Like the leading lady in Spiral....
Not a fan of dubbing. Subtitles mean I have to sit down and pay attention!

Looks like there are 6 stories, each in 2 parts, so next week's will conclude the following week. More4 decided to lump the first two episodes together, hence the strange total of 11 eps.
Snap! - I hate dubbing for the same reason. Plus there's an effect on the other, non-speech, sounds which are happening at the same time.
I'm only half way through the first episode, and so far I like it at least as much as Inspector Montalbano, if not more than.

I enjoyed that! Have to be honest though, as soon as I saw the uncle I checked for scratch marks on his neck!

I was suspicious that the aunt knew more than she was letting on, but it was a good drama.
The twist of the detectives own mother being in prison - presumably for a murder - is an interesting one.
Didn't the mother of the dead girl look like Sigourney Weaver?

She did! When she was in Alien.
