It's too long now, an hour and a half! Take some of the contestants away and get it down to an hour (at a push the 1hr 15mins it was before...the extra 15mins for the adverts)

Think only the launch show is that long, then back to hour 15

I must admit I lost track of who was who and what all their names were. I thought their signature bakes ended up looking more like show stoppers would in earlier series. I have a nasty feeling we will end up going down the exotic recipes route again when I just want them to concentrate on good, basic baking of the sort most people do at home on a rainy Saturdwy afternoon using ingredients that are in the cupboard .

That would be a good technical, especially as the ingredients would be restricted. Currently they seem to have limitless supplies. Whipping up another cake or ganache at the drop of a hat. Imagine 3/4 packet of flour, 6 eggs, a basic selection of flavourings and spices. Perhaps a couple of ounces of coconut and ground almonds, 2 lbs mixed fruit, a tin of peaches or mandarins, a gel mix, some milk, cheese or cream from the fridge, a household type fruit bowl - generally bits and pieces. Then give them 3 hours.

beverley! The amount of ingredients they waste by starting again is a bit horrifying

I know it's shocking. They must have a storeroom and extra fridges somewhere with runners we don't see fetching and carrying. Not to mention all the dishes and utensils they discard.
I would like to see them bake without mixers and electric whisks for once. You know, bake by feel, get their fingers into the mix, feel by the way the spoon moves.

Yes, I too thought the first bakes were very close to being showstoppers! In fact I wondered if they had changed the format at first.

I don't know if it's just me but I can't seem to get to like any of the contestants yet, maybe when they get thinned out a bit,but something seems to be lacking up to now.Hopefully it will get better.

At the moment there are too many of them for the camera to spend a long time with any one of them, so I don’t feel I know them as well, but that will change as numbers decrease.

Yes, but he was quite sweet. Even if he was rubbish at baking.
Loved the sheep!
Elena sounds just like the vampires in What We Do In The Shadows.

It is always hard for me to distinguish between the contestants in the early weeks. I usually start to have my favourites when there are about 8 of them left.
I thought that wedding bouquet show stopper was really beautiful and I loved the sheep too.

Bread week never flies for me, they barely have the time to make a good bread and they always expect a selection.
I like bread but the contestants just get flustered and if it's a baking programme the added pressure of trying to make things corectly is unreasonable. We all know it's edited so an extra 30 minutes wouldn't harm.

I don’t much care about bread week, but there were some beautiful loaves in the showstopper round. The right one went, but I will miss seeing her hair every week.
