I thought Paul was particularly sharp about the cakes of the two women who left. I thought they both looked lovely. I really thought that the pineapple one looked very cheery.
Two of the men had disasters yet neither of the women who went were as bad. Do you think they don't want all the men to go out to soon.
I don't think I would like a cocktail cake much though.

I suppose we have to accept Paul and Prue actually tasting the cakes and seeing the decoration up close - and all the way round - so they know what worked and what did not.
I meant to say those flapper biscuits on the custard pies were absolutely stunning - what a talented chap!

He is, but he didn't flavour his egg custard and I thought that is what they were supposed to do - everyone else seemed to be flavouring them which was taking up a fair bit of time. Perhaps I heard wrong, maybe the others were over complicating the thing.

I laughed at that one and also, “He’s silencing the screaming in his head with gin.”
I disagreed quite strongly with the decision on who to eject.

Well that was a surprise result for me! When he said two I thought Priya and Rosie could go, or possibly Michael! On the custard pie front, I thought only David managed a 1920s look, and to me a Prohibition cake suggests it is alcohol free, not inspired by a cocktail.

I suppose it was a way to get ROUND Prohibition - pour alcohol into an innocent looking sponge. Helena's flavours were not good - her Lavender was sickly (always a problem) and I think they said her show stopper was dry. Ditto Welsh lady - her show stopper was too OTT.

Nah, I 'm still convinced they want to hang on to the gender balance for a bit longer. Just like we always wonder about it in Strictly when someone really naff stays in and misses the dance off and you think really!? If two blokes had gone, there'd be flurries on twitter. This is an entertainment programme and the judges are employed by the company producing it so I always approach with cynicism. There were at least 4/5 people who hadn't done that well overall this week and any of them could have gone.
I liked the idea of 1920s theme and was wondering what else was popular at the time. I thought maybe the showstopper would have to be art deco in theme and cocktails was a surprise - not sure they were drinking many of them in Sunderland in the 20s. Maybe you could put some cherry brandy in your bitter or some Advocat in you milk. I think rum in your tea was popular though, all my great aunts seemed to like that.

I will miss Helena’s goth cakes. Surely one of the most creative bakers they’ve had.
As usual, the contestants have won me over and I don’t know who I want to win - but I do want Henry to get Star Baker at least once.
Has any group ever been so consistently hopeless at technical challenges?

That's the kind of thing I meant when I said they had gone for characters rather than bakers this year.

Both the panel and the audience of ITT felt Elena was wrongly sent home and quite vociferously. I had forgotten she won the technical too. Apparently nobody has gone home after winning a technical round.

Elena was lovely but I felt her showstoppers were aimed more at children.

I liked the fact they had her dead ringer from What We Do In The Shadows on the panel! I was surprised that wasn't mentioned. In that show (hilarious I thought) Nadia reminded me of Noel too.

Elena was lovely but I felt her showstoppers were aimed more at children. A quirky lady, but the vampire/hallowe'en theme was getting to the boring stage

She WAS beginning to come across as a bit repetitive, getting Hallowe'en into every single bake.

I don’t really get why Steph won Star Baker again. The other one (whose name I’ve forgotten) won the technical challenge and was equal on the showstopper. She should’ve won.
