I have never tried to make bread (except for my home made pizza dough - mixing self raising flour with water, spreading on a bit of oil and popping in the oven ten minutes), I am always amazed by what they come up with!

I also loved her hair! She had a bad week so it was correct that she went.
Agree about the star baker - the men are the stand out personalities so far for me.

I always like to shout out the name before they do, and we were agreed this week. She did have a shocker, sadly.

I just wonder how they calculate the time allowance bearing in mind they are amateurs in a strange kitchen. They're always saying things like "time will be tight here" or "timing is critical to complete this", yet you would think they must be giving them at least double the time of a professional. Have they ever explained how they come up with the timescale. They probably have but I am always conflicted - is it a baking contest or a time test.

I think an element of excitement is added with the "5 minutes to go!" warnings. They often cut to barely completed items but then, when the round is finished minutes later, everyone has something perfectly presentable.
I am amazed that as well as coping with the strange kitchen/oven, the contestants are expected to talk intelligently when required about what they are doing.
Once again it is delightful to see how they all rush to help each other when someone IS struggling for time. There was almost a production line going last week at one point.

Challenging technical with the 'Maids of Honour' this week. No one did well. I wonder if 2 will leave?

To quote Nanny Ogg, they starts out as Maids of Honour.....

Hmmm....agree with star baker (and doesn't she look like Sally Field?) but not so sure about the one who left.
Others struggled more, imo.

To quote Nanny Ogg, they starts out as Maids of Honour..... ..but end up as tarts. My thoughts exactly! Remember her 'Carrot & Oyster Pie'. Carrots so you can see in the dark, and oysters so you have something to look at...

Love Maids of Honour, my gran used to make them often, she would put sultanas, sugar, lemon peel and nutmeg in the bottom rather than lemon curd. They are delicious.

I’m also not sure the right person got the boot. But had he ever produced something that the judges thought was outstanding? Priya and Michael had disastrous rounds, but they’ve also shown brilliance. Phil was just a bit meh.
I love Maids of Honour. We used to get them from the bakery just outside Kew Gardens.

I always thought they judged each week independently....maybe not. Priya has been excellent in previous weeks and Michael redeemed himself after a mumsy hug from Sandi. Phil perhaps did not stretch himself enough with what he made? I suppose at least the others tried more complex bakes.
Steph reminds me of actress Sally Field.

I thought Phil was for the chop as soon as Paul said the showstopper looked like things you would make in primary school!
I had never heard of mishti and didn't have a clue what they were supposed to be producing!

Interesting show this week with Noel consoling Michael and making sure he kept going during his melt down. Not convinced about the leaver(s) but will not spoil it until others comment. Best LOL line goes to Rosie the vet discussing with Noel "Which animals are the worst to treat?" "Rabbits" she said, "they just want to die..."
