I’m very glad Henry finally won Star Baker, but I would agree the challenges have become ridiculous. I like the idea of a budget celebration cake round.
I have a vague memory that they had to make a grilled layer cake as a technical challenge once, but not with the coloured patterns.

Yes I remembered it too. In fact I was sure it had been on before.

Steph certainly pulled it back with her show stopper but all in all pastry week showed up a lot of the remaining contestants. I suppose, as so many admit on this show, they just BUY pastry. The technical was interesting, all those thin layers.
At least we will see Henry with Jo Brand on Friday.

Pastry week always gets them. However I didn't think Henry was that bad, Steph put her stacking pies on plates to keep them steady yet the others were trying to hold the up in other ways. The technical was interesting and it was nice to have something savoury.
I did love the fantasy and tree house pie stacks but I guess they were done by the amount of time it takes to execute them.

I think it was the taste and texture of Henry's pies that did for him rather than the presentation.

😱🤬😢 HENRY!
It’s going to be Steph, isn’t it? It’s hers to lose, anyway.

Steph and David in the Final.... but who will be the third?

Best line of the series has to be Henry during the technical "Nobody knows what this is! If anyone does, I'll...get naked!" Cut to David "I know what this IS...."

Love the tie wearing in tribute to Henry.
All to play for in the semi final...
(Delighted to see the junior version is coming back. It was brilliant when the BBC did it - the children are so inspiring and there is no patronising from the judges. Presenters Sam & Mark from CBBC were on hand to help when sharp knives were in use or when jars refused to open.)

Hmmm. Disagree with the results. I would have reversed Star Baker and Person Leaving.
But then, it is all in the taste which the judges are the experts on.

I think they wanted a man in the final. That's all I am saying about that.
Haven't they done a Gateau St Honore before, or was that on the BBC version.

BBC version. I remember Sue doing a piece on it in St Honore.

David's glass case was the best of the bunch.

I think the right person went - debatably, she should have gone last week. Then, when one of the others said something about how she was worrying unnecessarily over the Technical, I thought it sounded just a little testy, as if they didn’t like the drama.
