I like Tom Allen on many programmes, but I felt during last year’s series there was too much focus on him - to the extent that I think I didn’t watch the final few episodes. If they’ve reined him in a bit, I might venture back.

He does come across as condescending - has he ever done celeb bake off? It would be nice to see what he is capable of.
He is good on panel shows when he is one of 4 team members, but this did give him too free a reign last year. But this was better.
Sometimes less is more, as they say.

Mmm, macaroons.
I felt this week was good. They’ve scaled back the Technicals, some of the Florentines looked very tasty, and some of the Showstoppers looked amazing. Better standard than last week, maybe because the bakers were more settled.

Enjoyed it this week. The biscuit structures were amazing. I think the correct person left as he had not used moulds.

I think they had settled down a bit too because they didn’t drop so much, did they? I enjoyed it and had that poor chap’s card marked. He did seem a very nice guy though. Is it just me or does Dave seem a bit arrogant, or perhaps over competitive? I think you see some very telling glances when the camera pans round the tent after someone has received high praise which reveals who really wants to win! For me at the moment that’s Dave and Sura.

Maybe that is how it is edited together marion? Remember the BBC trailer that implied Her Maj was "flouncing out of a sitting for a portrait" when in reality she was going in? Shots of expressions on the faces of contestants/wide angle images of the tent do not necessarily relate to the action we have just been shown, imo.

As has been pointed out, when the hosts say "you have 1 minute!" we see frantic contestants desperately working on items which, seconds later, are presented and looking lovely.

Sad to see Suri go but everyone seemed to struggle in chocolate week. And white chocolate is a particular fiend, apparently. I think she was unwise to dilute her chocolate with water - unless she had tried it previously and it had worked.
Lottie also had a nightmare but lived to fight another day.

you would never put water in chocolate, with white chocolate you can put a little milk or cream.

Paul stressed how the high fat content meant you needed less butter. It was a tricky challenge but one they should have practiced.

It looked to me as if Sura was pissed off to be leaving. Maybe she thought Lottie should have gone? It was a close call in some respects but a raw showstopper is a bit of a death knell.

I thought she was upset with herself.
Sad way to go, if it's because the other contestants have produced something stunning it would be bad enough, but after such a disaster she must have felt awful

I agree - I think she knew she had let herself down badly.
