Apologies if someone’s started this thread.....it’s rare that I start one. I did read that this is due to be released at the end of the month. The 12 participants have been profiled. Apparently they “bubbled“ in a hotel over a week or so in order to complete it within regulations, which was probably a good thing, judging by how rapidly the regs are changing at the moment.

I will give it a go, I don't normally care much for Matt Lucas but that could be a character he plays. I'll give him a fair go.

I’m going to record it on +1 and watch channel 5. For some reason my Channel 4 on my freesat does not get a signal, so any Ch4 I watch has to be on the +1. I’ve tried retuning, nothing happened (except losing all my recording list)

So far, I like blue scarf woman.

Like the young lad Peter, Sura too. Some interesting showstoppers!
They said 7 week bubble - suppose as each gets knocked out they leave the bubble.

Yes, I imagine so. And the spend two weeks self isolation before they can join their family.

I came late to it.
Was the instruction for the showstopper “bake something psychotic”?
That was...bizarre.

Weren’t a lot of them clumsy? I’ve never seen so many cakes on the floor. And don’t get me started on blue scarf woman flapping her arms about at the table and so knocking over that chap’s tray. I thought the showstopper was odd too. It is a baking competition, why not get them to make an ornate wedding cake in cake week, rather than a stupid bust. I like it when they are told to make some obscure European cake.
I rather like Hermine, she seems to have promise. And the young chap who won star baker is nice too.

Sounds like the same nonsense as last year then. I shall come back when they start doing proper baking.

I know we can’t smell or taste the food (which is true of all cookery shows anyway), but I don’t see why that makes it OK to pimp the appearance so much, to compensate. I don’t want to eat something with red and yellow fondant icing or marzipan covering green and purple sponge........ Some of those battenburgs had 8+ flavourings in them. An explosion in the mouth, and not in a good way. It might be fun for the children’s show, but it’s just lurid nonsense for adults. It’s not supposed to be BritArt. I confidently expect them one week to be asked to make some “action” toys, e.g. working catapults, which will fire gobbets of cake straight into mouths of the judges, competes and crew.....
....Some producers somewhere are scared of boring the fans, but have they actually asked the fans?
