Finding Alice will premiere on ITV on Sunday January 17th at 9pm.
Finding Alice follows Alice’s journey of grief, love and life after the death of her husband Harry. His accidental sudden death kicks up a storm of secrets and mess, debt, suspicion and criminality which Alice is forced to confront in order to survive.
Harry dies after falling down the stairs when they move into their newly finished dream house. Harry designed it, so it’s weird and wonderful, and impractical, and one more disorientation for Alice, alongside her sense of loss and abandonment. Her beloved partner of 20 years is no more, and now she can’t even find the fridge. If that were her only problem. Men have a habit of hiding stuff that they don’t want to deal with, and Alice discovers that Harry was worse than most.
The six episode drama series stars Keeley Hawes (Line Of Duty), Joanna Lumley (Absolutely Fabulous), Nigel Havers (Benidorm), Jason Merrells (Agatha Raisin), Gemma Jones (Gentleman Jack), Kenneth Cranham (Hatton Garden), Isabella Pappas (Paranoid) and Sharon Rooney (No Offence).

Helluva cast! Written by Simon Nye (The Durrells) and "darkly funny" - I'm looking forward to it.

At last, something a little different from the fare of months. We ditched The Serpent for this, it's so slow and this has a bit of pace. It was a good move.
(In normal times of course we'd be expecting Vera to be landing about now with Endeavour stacked-up behind!)

It looks as though it will develop into an intriguing story and it passed with flying colours my personal test of whether a drama is good: I didn't once look at the clock to see how much longer it would last and was taken by surprise that the hour had gone. It did make me well up a few times I have to say.
Having read beforehand that the story begins with Harry's death from falling down the stairs, as soon as we first saw the staircase in question, I wasn't at all surprised at anyone falling down it: it looked absolutely lethal!

I enjoyed the opening episode. Looks like we're going to find out there's quite a lot Alice didn't know about Harry...

I wonder who that was at the bottom of the stairs near the door.
Mind you, it could have been anybody, a few people seemed to have keys.

They appeared to be wearing converse trainers, so I would go for someone younger rather than the parents etc.

I laughed to myself when we saw the family first arriving at the house. Harry punched a code into a keypad by the door and told Alice she would never have to worry about forgetting or losing her keys any more. No, maybe not but I would be more likely to forget the code than my keys!

I enjoyed this opener. I wonder if we will be going into Mrs Wilson territory! Harry seems a wide boy at the very least. But the daughter said to Alice that he wasn’t her husband so what was that about I wonder? Or did she just mean because he was no longer alive? Definitely preferable to both The Serpent and The Great imho.

I noticed and wondered about that too. I don't think she just meant no longer alive, because as I recall she said "he wasn't your husband", rather than "he isn't your husband (any more)".

I also noticed that Alice wasn't wearing a wedding ring.

So when do we find the actual wife? The one he never divorced?

I didn't like the whimsical tone of much of this, which didn't reflect the tragic circumstances, particularly the scenes in the mortuary. And if Harry actually did fall down the stairs, he did it very quietly! Or is the bathroom where Alice was brushing her teeth soundproofed, perhaps.
It is a great cast and I will keep watching – it may improve when we get more into whatever Harry was up to.
