What? Oh that's a great lesson for her to learn. Cry when life doesn't go your way and people give you loads of money. That will help her a lot in her adult life. Not.

Just to add some clarity here:
A Welsh man speculatively set up the fundraiser not because she was crying, but because there was a lot of online abuse going around along with a still picture of her and her father. The man didn't want her to think this is the way all British* people behave, that we are all xenophobic and intolerant in the UK, and that kindness in the UK easily outweighs the shits. He didn't expect it to get so much traction, and he isn't even in contact with the girl or her family (or wasn't, that may have changed), and there's no suggestion, yet, that the girl's family will even accept the money. If he cannot contact with them, or they decide not to accept the money raised, then he will donate it to charity, so it's a good thing all around.
*He felt that a shitty reaction by England fans, online, reflects on all of us.

Her dad will probably not want the money or attention especially if he has to explain to her that it was because she was called names, blamed for Anne Franks death, ww2, along with all the sexual references these “morons” decided were appropriate.

Oh well that makes a lot more sense! And fair play to him. I tend to avoid any SM contact with football fans so wasn't aware of the abuse. Although not surprised by it either. And that's a much better lesson for her to learn.

Enjoying the Italy/Spain football although there has been no score so far.
Every time they mention "Emmerson" I am waiting "Lake & Palmer" to join him.

I can't imagine that girls father was on any of the sites where that kind of tripe was being pedalled - and why was the Welsh fan.
I read lots of stuff about the game and never read anything like this.
I'm in a forum for the TV series The Last Kingdom and as you can imagine there's lots of banter about Saxons and Danes. They are a massive group of wide ranging fans and there has been nothing buy good humour and banter. If anyone says anything untoward the admins are straight in - they won't even allow the pedants to criticise spelling or grammar.
No reputable site would let the kind of insults being suggested stay up and I sometimes wonder how these journalists find them or whether they are secret trolls on there to stir things up.
Yes I know there are idiots out there and there are plenty in Germany too, but sometimes you do have to look for them.

Well well well! Now it gets interesting. Will the Italians park the bus and go for penalties?

I imagine most of the abuse was on Twitter. Which is barely moderated. I avoid most of it by judicious use of the Block button. And I expand my screen to cut off the Trending so don't see it.

Yes on Twitter. Of course. The least worst, of the truly offensive, was “cry more slut” which other than shitting upon a child is actually punching down on their gender too because that wouldn’t have been the case had that been a boy. Anyway, the family have made contact with the fundraiser and the money is going to UNICEF at their request.

Viva Azzurri! That was a cracker of a game. It was a great game, but a crappy way for Spain to go out, who deserved more. There’s time in the competition, semis should go to a replay if equal at full time. Only after that extra time and penalties.

We watched again in our local bar - nail biting stuff! I thought Spain played better but so glad Italy won. The noise on the street afterwards was amazing, cars going up and down with horns blazing! Will be watching the England game tomorrow at home as usual.
