Italy win the Euros, the Eurovision Song contest and the Olympic 100 Metres and an Italian reaches the Wimbledon final. Think I'll back them for the six nations next year.  Stretching things there Rufus. |

An Italian also shared a gold medal in the men's high jump. Meanwhile, a new world record was set in the women's triple jump, despite a terrible technique - the second step was extremely short. |

In the floor I preferred the Spaniard to the Israeli. If Simone Biles has withdrawn from the floor, won't our second twin get a go as first reserve? That would be good. So did I, TBH. |

I was pleased for the Belgian who won the bars final. Their first gymnastics medal I believe, š. I started watching my recording of the red button coverage which finished mid way so had to find the rest on iPlayer. Now itās some more gymnastics, a bit of diving and the equestrian, although I may have to check the result of that first as I find it all a bit too tense!
Have we done anything much in the athletics? I saw our chap get disqualified in the sprint for a false start. I also saw online the Jamaican lady who came third in the 100m jog to the line in the 200m prelim, only to be overtaken by two other runners! Steve and Colin were not impressed by either.

I donāt understand! Iāve just seen a bit of the cycling, womenās team pursuit. There is only one team on the track at a time. One goes and then the opposition ride against the time. I thought they lined up opposite each other and you could see them both. Has this been changed? Covid? Health &Safety? Maybe it is different in the heats and your time is just to set your position?

The qualifying times are used to determine the pairings for the semifinals - 6th v 7th fastest, 5th v 8th, 2nd v 3rd and 1st v 4th. (The last two SFs will decide who competes for which medals.) |

Great Rings final! And the winner is in absolute bits, bless him! I guess because they have done suprisingly badly this year.

So pleased for Jade Carey in the Floor final. She's had an absolute mare of an Olympics but has kept herself going. Real mental toughness. And nice to see her finally smile!

I'm just watching the A bar final and wondering, again, why the mat isn't under the bar? There's a big step down to the next mat for the gymnasts to fall off and one of them could hurt themselves. I don't remember seeing that arrangement of mats before.
