Yes, it's a recessive gene, but grey horses aren't born grey, they become grey in varying degrees before adulthood and always have dark skin and eyes.

White horses have pink skin and light eyes.

They can both be spontaneous but more common, up to 1 in 10 in some breeds.

I remember reading about this at the Queen Mother's funeral because apparently she had insisted on only having grey horses.

There have been some wonderful grey race horses, but I don't remember ever seeing any in 3 day eventing at this level.

The lady who won the individual gold reminded of the wonderful Marion Mould and 'Stroller'. Compact horse and rider, just sailed over the jumps.

Are any of our commentators out in Tokyo? I was quite surprised to see Colin Jackson in the Salford studio with JJ as I thought he and Steve were out there! What about the gymnastics trio, are they watching on telly too? I have seen Rishi Persad doing an outside report at the equestrian, Sharon at the swimming and Jeanette at the track. I know all the pundits are based here this time, but can’t work out where the commentators are! I do know the gymnastics trio aren’t relying on BBC1 because their screens (I assumed in the commentary box) failed at one point and I was watching live without a problem.

Quite, though being that far off, and being caught, ending up smeared across the velodrome floor is a fitting finale. In the women's race, after getting the WR, two of the GB women managed to take each other out.

I did like the German who got silver. I preferred him to the winner. He did so much on the one bar!
