It could be that Sonia was the first person to see V when she was fueling the van after getting off the ferry. V may not have rented the house beforehand. But just rocked up at the pub and asked.
But yeah, the contestants are pretty shocking!

And I'm really hoping they don't do a Conan Doyle and introduce the murderer in the last episode. But Rankin is a better writer than that in his books.

The money Miranda, she had a ton of money in the sock drawer. Where did that come from. I forgot about that.
My daughter doesn't think she's an eco-warrior at all. She thinks she works for the company and they hire her to annoy the locals, cause discord between them. Like seducing Jean and Hamish (?), getting on people's nerves, shouting in meetings etc. Like a plant.

Oh that's an interesting idea! It gives the company an excuse to set a deadline which rushes the deal through before people have had time to research

Colleague at work pointed out that there was a man's hand in the photos. Obviously someone was with Jean and the V when the photos were taken. Who was it?
Isn't it good that we're all seeing different things.
Next week we should have the forensics and more background on the V.

I’m confused about the interviews. Do all of the detectives interview all of the witnesses? I’m assuming they do, but we are only shown one.

Yes I presume they all do that, perhaps we see more next week.
The actors have a plot and character and are given guidance on what to say, but they can improvise depending on who is talking to them and what questions are being asked. They can only tell outright lies if they've been told to but they can be vague, forgetful or difficult, if that's the way they're character would behave. Just like normal people are.
So it's not likely Hamish will suddenly become chatty and friendly with someone etc.
I don't know how much the actors know.

I would assume that only the murderer knows who the murderer is so that none of the actors give it away accidently

Okay, I've watched it now, so I'm joining in. 🙂 I like that idea of your daughter's, Beverley.
Similar to Miranda's thinking about the first person to discover the victim being a prime suspect, I'm wondering if the second person could also be considered. Alicia was trying to get a signal on her mobile so she could phone the police, whilst Ishbel Corrie went into the house. She would've had ample opportunity to check around the house in broad daylight to see she hadn't left anything incriminating behind the night before if she'd murdered Charly. And why was she driving along the road at that time?
The camera briefly lingered on a vicar-type character in the pub meeting, so I expect he'll feature more prominently in other episodes.

I don't think there were signs of forced entry, so did the murderer have a key?
I'll jot down Charly's notes on the fors and againsts re. selling so we can look back at them here:
Margaret McDonald (don't think she's been featured yet) - was for but convinced her not to sell Tony and Sonya - Tony undecided, Sonya wants to sell Isabel and Logan - Ishbel against, Logan on fence/for

Ha ha, I think all of our theories are up for grabs because the murder could hinge on why she ran away in the first place.
We definitely need more info on the victim.

Well where are we now. I'm going to be bold and rule out Hamish and Jean, although maybe................... Sonia and Tony are just full of lies, first he said he didn't know her then he admits he knew her when she was a DJ in Glasgow, but Sonya still hasn't given us much about how she got to know her The crime boss in the big house has lots of reasons 'potentially' but it might not be about drugs - perhaps she was his girlfriend and he came looking for her. Nobody seemed to push Alyssa much this week, she definitely knows more. There are others too, the young lad who knows about the drugs, his mum and who knows some person we haven't seen yet. It was nice to see everyone get a bit more organised and hard to know how well they're doing because they all seem to have different theories going on. I am presuming someone gets eliminated soon. The professionals don't miss much do they. I don't think that woman imagined her relationship with her friend was going to be psycho-analysed on TV. Do they get to a point where everyone shares what they have found out?

Two definite strands of enquiry so far. And it's got me doing a flowchart for the first time in years!

Ok, this is how I see it. I'm leaning towards Hamish being the killer at the moment. He's drinking heavily, he's stalking Jean, she's frightened of him (no matter how much she denies it!) and Hamish sees V as an obstacle to getting his wife back. He was at the Manse when V came home crying in the dark. So the last thing he said to her was likely not to be whatever he said in the pub courtyard. Very possibly there was a row and he lost it and stabbed her. She tried to get help and staggered into the bedroom, doubled over in pain. Hamish ran for it.
The other possible strand is the drugs. Obviously Freddy is trying to find the drugs that were washed overboard from a boat and using the young fella as eyes and ears. I think the 'cannabis plant' is a red herring. It looked more like a lupin to me! LOL! There's a definite connection between him, Sonia and Tony, and the victim from the Glasgow clubs. Tony is a terrible liar! I reckon Tony got set up in that pub on the island to be the liasion between Freddy and the drug runners.
As for the money, I think Charley was supposed to get a termination and got the money from the father. Who is probably married and has children. We know there is a child involved somehow back home. I think Charley did a runner and went back to a place she knew as a child. And to her delight, found Tony there! Every crime novel is allowed one coincidence, them's the rules!
