Just been checking the ferry times. It's a 20 minute journey and goes on the hour up until about 6pm (£2.80 return - not bad). Secondary school pupils use the ferry. I am presuming also that GPs and pharmacies are available this way with more shops too.
That means either Charley got the ferry to get her pregnancy test or someone got one for her, or she brought it with her. There is only the one shop on the island, 'Jean's' shop. I wonder if this is us just being women and practical and that thought did not occur to Ian Rankin or the production team! I find this often happens in dramas where people/families simply do not talk to each other as people normally do and women in particular become almost silent friends never discussing anything ordinary or about relationships, which isn't likely in real life. Perhaps it means nothing to the plot, but if she did emerge from lying low to go on the ferry perhaps it is.

I'm afraid I'm going to have to stop watching. I just can't handle all the ads. I may see if I can pay for one more month's +4 but if not, I'm going to have to stop. 8 ads every break, even on catchup, is insanity.
Hang on, I've downloaded last weeks and so far.... 15 mins with no ads.... so maybe.... nope. Still ads. Bugger.

I started a new account with another email and my mom's address so I can have 14 days free trial. Still get 3 ads in every break even though it advertises itself as ad-free. Still, that's bearable for now I suppose.
It is such a rubbish streaming service it's a damn cheek to charge for it at all!

So, the boat has become the centre of everyone's focus. And Dot and Rox are whispering like schoolgirls in the classroom.

Ah..... so both Jean and Hamish reacted badly to C's comment about staying. Love the way Chris stood up for herself though!

Now watching the PF and I think the girls have more chance of staying in than the boys. The latter seem to have decided on the correct and are now looking for evidence to fit it. Which is completely the wrong way round.

Chris and Caroline are through I think, judging by what the PF said. And S+R as well. Both teams got encouragement to continue. I think it's between the young uns.

It's the girls. Not surprised but the boys are going to have to pick up their game.

Of course, the easiest way to find out if the father of C's baby is by DNA. But I expect they would need a warrant to get some from all the men.

Ok so.... they let Tony go and get the phone that has messages from Charley completely unobserved..... pair of total dingbats.

Oh FFS! If his lawyer says he will answer questions on his involvement only, then ask those questions! Oy oy oy....

I missed Sonya's explanation of the brick. Did she say why she didn't contact the police straight away?

She did, she said a child brought it in to the class having found it on the beach and they were going to bring it to the police but then the murder happened and they thought it might be incriminating and they didn't know what to do with it. The story of the child finding it was corroborated.
They are clearly involved with drugs because they said afterwards something along the lines of 'well we got away with that'
Of course as a teacher she could have taken the children for a walk on the beach, dropped the package and then watched one of the children find it!
Nobody except the older women has actually found anything the contradicts a statement and warrants following up.
How could those lads let Tony get to this phone when he has volunteered to show it to him.
So Tony and Sonja are the drug connection, did Charly find out. Is that why she was on the island - to find out who was running the drugs so the Glasgow boss could cut them off.

I was thinking about this when half asleep last night and it occurred to me that none of the teams do very much checking of the statements they are given. They seem to believe what they are told until something happens to make them think again. One thing Christie teaches - corroborate everything!
Those little VTs we see that the teams don't - are we meant to take them as truth?
