Charley talking to someone in the Manse at 11:30. So if we take Jean's word for it, it can't be Jean. So it could be Alicia or Ishbel. I don't think it's Freddy or Logan. Not sure about Sonia and Tony. Will need to go back and check on where they were at that time.

I've just caught up with it now. My thoughts:
I'd want to know if Jean saw any cars (or other modes of transport) parked at the Manse when she was there late that night. One clip showed a car driving away from somewhere (the Manse?) late at night (which night?) - was that significant? Presumably so, else why show it?
The Manse is very lax on security if Jean was able to get in and discover the pregnancy test when Charly wasn't there.
Were the colours of the flowers at the memorial on the beach significant? Freddie and Alicia has pink/reddish ones, whilst Sonya and Jean had yellow.
I'd want to question Alicia about the vandalism to her car. Had she reported it to the police? Does she know who was responsible? If it was Charly - who could've done it after the pub meeting - did Alicia then go around to the Manse afterwards to confront her?

I'm wondering if they only let them question one thing at a time.
Next week Charley's father is located. Presumably he's going to tell them all the people they knew on the island and why Charley ran away. Was it just that she wanted a new life or was there someone or something she'd done that made it to hard to stay.
Anyway technically it's taken them 5 days to locate him and is this going to be the first time they find out she wasn't a stranger to everyone.
Also next week they get to read her diary and see her texts. Normally I'm sure they'd have had a PC going through all of this at the same time.
This all could bring Tony and Sonja back into the frame. It also means they will know that Hamish, Ishbel and Tony already knew her. Does Logan remember her?
Every suspect is still in the game as far as I can tell.

I thought they were reading her diary at the beginning of this episode? Maybe they read more of it next week, as well as see her texts. (My recording cut out as they were starting to show next week's preview, so I'm not sure what they showed.)

Yes they did, but I can't remember if that was a TV viewer insert or whether the detectives saw it. My son was bobbing in and out distracting me.

I liked Sarah and Richmond from the start and I’m pleased they’re doing so well.
It must be Ishbel, I think. Protecting her boy?

I'm glad Sarah and Richmond are the final couple. They've done so well.
Ishbel seems quite hard-faced, which makes me think she's the more likely of the two to be the murderer. On the other hand, is there any forensic evidence to put her at the Manse in the lead-up to the murder? Logan was there, so could potentially have done it. But will his mum confess to it so her son doesn't go down for it? (If this wasn't a reality show, that is!)

I was a bit disappointed with that. All of that evidence in the last four weeks and it turns out to be a motive that no-one even hinted at before. Bit too Conan Doyle for me.

Yes, I was a bit miffed too. We expected red herrings, but we didn't expect something that had happened years before. We did know a couple of weeks ago that Logan was at the Manse, either as a peeping Tom or a friend.
However nobody on the show was disadvantaged they all knew he had been there because of the forensics and nobody put him in the frame. Only the last two got the new evidence and they had equal access to everything. They saw the CCTV of Charley and Logan and heard her father say she always used the dictaphone. Sarah and Richmond decided to corroborate that with Sheila which got them the clue and also a witness to the fact that she used it. They had phone evidence sorted and the lads - who I think should have gone sooner, were still chasing around getting Logan's back up, asking him about the death of Gregor without even checking that was his father.
The lads searched the house, one upstairs and one down and then swapped. The brother doing the downstairs clearly didn't look at the top of the fridge or they would have been at South Beach before Sarah and Richmond and found the dictaphone.

Okay, I've watched it now, so I'm joining in. 🙂 I like that idea of your daughter's, Beverley. Similar to Miranda's thinking about the first person to discover the victim being a prime suspect, I'm wondering if the second person could also be considered. Alicia was trying to get a signal on her mobile so she could phone the police, whilst Ishbel Corrie went into the house. She would've had ample opportunity to check around the house in broad daylight to see she hadn't left anything incriminating behind the night before if she'd murdered Charly. And why was she driving along the road at that time?The camera briefly lingered on a vicar-type character in the pub meeting, so I expect he'll feature more prominently in other episodes. Heh heh. (Not that I would've put money on her being the one back then.) Glad Sarah and Richmond got it right. 🙂 |
