Actually, I did wonder about the quality of the ice myself!!!! I know!!! This was in the team event, I thought there was something not quite right. Call me psychic! I agree no one else has said anything and maybe you just don’t, and have to accept a variable quality because it is the same for everyone (except first skater after the polish presumably).
I was amazed by that missed jump, just amazed. And he is still seventh or close isn’t he? Why was there a question mark over his competing? Has he been injured or had covid or just past his best?
I very much enjoyed Jason Brown. No quads but such artistry. Amazingly I managed to record the whole lot so didn’t need to try and fight my way through the iPlayer selections.

I still think he's not fully recovered from his ankle injury. Ankles are an absolute bugger to heal correctly. And he's barely skated this year because of it so he's rusty. I do feel for him but he shouldn't be there IMO.

The first day of the Men's Curling has been surprisingly rubbish IMO. It's more like a game of marbles with 95% takeouts and 5% curled stones. So boring to watch.

I have never been a fan of curling, it seems very odd watching someone go mad sweeping the ice.

Can Russia or at least the Russian Committee stave off the looming drug scandal and retain their gold.

Young female figure skater. Apparently she was caught taking that heart medication that Sharapova took.

I just heard our commentator mention legal issues after the team event so googled it after watching and yes, it is Valieva. Which is a shame because she was very good. The Russians are saying the sample was from two months ago, I gather, but she* did not attend training yesterday and the medal ceremony has not taken place. I think she was in with a big chance for the individual gold. * and some other Russian skaters So I just finished the men’s and have a headache. That must have been the worst version of Bolero ever recorded! Followed by a poor version of Gladiator and then a less than brilliant Elton medley. Maybe the sound system is not up to par. Of course the BBC only showed the final 12. I would have happily watched them all. Robin was critical of the Georgian who apparently fudges his toe loop take off so he just does yet another salchow. This is a matter of contention with the other skaters! Gossip!! Thank you, Robin. Now if I were a top notch skater who could do every quad known to man except for the axel, and I had never, ever landed the axel, can I just say I would never include it in my Olympic final!!! Risky or what. I shall continue in a spoiler. {SPOILER:Click to Show}That cost Hunyu dear. If he had done another quad he could actually land, or a fabulous triple, he would probably have had enough points to secure the bronze medal. Idiotic imho. Still he seemed very chipper in the chairs waiting for the result. I don’t think I’ve ever seen him so animated.

Oh no! Not Valieva! She's amazingly talented. Honestly the Russian skating programme is horrendous. They are going through these young women at a rate of knots. Used to win an Olympics and then discarded for the next one.

Been watching the snowboarding but had to turn the sound off because of the endless juvenile banter by the two clowns in the CB. We are not all under 20.

Whatever were the Germans applying to the runners of their sleds in the Luge? Whatever it was it worked.

Still no resolution to the Valieva affair apparently. They haven’t held the Team medal ceremony but nor have I heard anything about her being disqualified from the Individual. She is a minor so they cannot say too much, in fact I think that’s how she was pinpointed because she was the only minor in the Team competition, but I wouldn’t swear to it. It now transpires that she tested positive in December but the result was only processed and announced this week. Funnily enough this story naming her appears to have broken in the Russian press.

Perhaps it would simply be easier if everyone had to be 18.
