I hope her decision to wear that arm band does not rebound on her. I would not put it past the Qatar authorities to insist she returns to the UK!
Lot of injuries in the first England match. That head clash with the Iran goalkeeper and one of their players - ouch! Ridiculous that they seemed to want him to remain on the pitch! Ended up going off on a stretcher. Hope he is ok.

Has the BBC said anything about viewing figures yet? A peak audience of 8 million viewers tuned in for the opening game of the World Cup. That seems low?

Yes. 13.7 million watched the opening game in 2018.

Must admit to loving it when teams with a *lesser* football history take down the big boys! Just because a nation is not well known for football does not mean they have not spent considerable time, money and effort improving their game to a high standard.

Mystery why all these pundits in the world cup commentary box didn't take up refereeing careers and show the footballing audience how it should be done.😊

Watched Ghana and S. Korea almost by accident.
One of the best matches I have seen so far!

There have been several surprising results, and some well-played matches. Very glad that a lot of the statements by the ‘experts’ have turned out not to be as clever as they thought they were

The experts tend to write off the smaller nations - I love when they are proved wrong.

Think I prefer the single commentary games. None of the tedious banter . I really don't care if the central midfielder is currently engaged to the managers second cousin.

My brother, a mad cricket fan, would watch the TV pictures with radio commentary. Sometimes the radio footie coverage is better.

I always used to do that when it was on terrestrial tv

I think, on radio, they have to concentrate on letting listeners know exactly what is happening on the pitch. So the latest squeeze of a player, or a crowd shot of smiling children is not commented on. Just what is happening on the field.
