He got the scar on his forehead from someone trying to kill him in prison. But I agree, it would easier to kill him there.

Yes - that was never really explained was it? It was just a triumph for the make up department!

I suppose they needed him in court to plead guilty rather than just being polished off by Knuckles, so the escape was TLR’s price.

As I said, in this day and age a guilty plea would not normally result in a physical journey to court with the time and manpower that requires. It can all be done on camera.
But that would be no use to viewers!!!

I don't know. It might be interesting to see; it would bring a different dynamic to the story, but it would cut through a lot of the chaff. I'd watch it. You'd have to work harder on the plot to get things done.

Wasn't it the Knežević brothers? And now they're going to do the job themselves as whoever did it messed it up? If not then just a grudge from someone perhaps, I'm sure Tommy has plenty of enemies.
There is probably an explanation in the first episode. If I have access to the iplayer before tomorrow's final episode I'll check it out.

I appreciate how proud the BBC is of this series but I think they need to stop promoting it on the news bulletins which they started to do yesterday.
Yes, 10 million have watched either live or catch up.
Which means 50 million are not watching.

I am feeling very ambiguous about this. It is very good; but the violence was really shocking when it came. I find it difficult to watch; so I am stopping with season 1's third episode, for the moment. I'll probably leave it for a couple of days.

They have form re this sort of thing… remember when JR’s shooting was a headline item on the 9.00pm News?? They should definitely stop showing a trailer, and then appeal for a stop to the speculation on social media

I think because the violence is accurate - not the sort you see in films where the hero gets beaten and then is up and about within minutes showing no sign of long term injury - means it is all the more powerful for viewers. You do not need to show graphic scenes, a good script - and as has been mentioned sound department - can bring the full horror of violence to the viewers mind.

There's different ways of showing violence. In the film Spies with Melissa Mccarthy (I think). It is very violent but also very funny.

When initially broadcast, we all had a week to calm down between episodes. I don't think I would be able to binge the first series.
