There are surely films that you had high expectations of, but somehow, at the end of it all, you felt let down by it all.
Mine has to be the Lord Of the Rings Trilogy which, I felt was a travesty. I know they had to cut out a number of things, but they cut out too many things, and changed things around too much and, though I watched it to the end, I could not feel satisfied with what I had seen.
Any others?

Life of Pi - I really enjoyed the book so bought the DVD and settled down to watch it with the OH - he didn't get it at all and to be honest I couldn't explain it to him based on what we were seeing. I did wonder how they would translate the book into a film, nor successfully in my opinion - glad I read the book first

Going back a long way, The Deerhunter. Multiple Oscars.
It was half an hour before I could understand a word of what De Niro was saying!

Who Framed Roger Rabbit - I'll never get those 2 hours back but we had paid good money for cinema tickets so saw it through to the end. Mama Mia - I can't get past the first 10 minutes.

Pulp Fiction.
Back in the days when we rented videos. I fast forwarded, just to get to the end of the film, to see if anything interesting happened, as we had paid for it.
Even fast that Bruce Willis walk takes AGES.

The Smurfs. Worse than Alvin & The Chipmunks, which is some feat. What contract shenanigans compels successful, talented actors to be involved with these kind of projects?

Lost In Translation - a real snooze-fest. American Beauty - couldn't see what all the fuss was about.
I was never a fan of ET, but I realise I am in a minority on this.

Oh, one of the worst Christmasses I had was when OH had a stomach bug and I was alone downstairs with only ET for company. Ugh.

Forest Gump. Dear Lord it was awful. And yes I do know what is in a box of chocolates as there is a listing.
Also agree with Who Killed Roger Rabbit upthread. Terrible.

I didn't even get all the way hrough the first Lord of the Rings movie, and have never seen the others (the 1978 animated version was so much better). I was also deeply disappointed by the Star Wars prequels and all of the Fantastic Four movies.

I was struggling with this one, guess I am easily pleased ... or only watch films I know I will like so I am not disappointed.
However, as I have said before, I am a compulsive completer of collections. I have to complete a series that I have started ... Sequels have sometimes disappointed Speed 2 and Iron Eagle II come to mind.
Also, it is always not wise to think that all the movies by some actors are going to be good, so while early Steven Seagal's were enjoyable like On Deadly Ground with Michael Caine, some of the later one have been simply embarrassing.
