I didn't even go to see Jack Reacher with Tom Cruise. I have read most of the books and Jack Reacher was 6ft 2in and weighed about 220 lbs. He was an ex military policeman and tough as they come. To put teeny, weeny, pretty boy, Tom Cruise in the role spoiled it for me. I couldn't stomach watching such a miscast film. He pulled off the role of the equally tall (and blond) vampire Lestat, though, against severe reservations from the author.

I'm sorry, but Tom Cruise could never convince as Jack Reacher. After reading all the books,I imagine Reacher to be rather like Lee Marvin, only slightly heavier in build.

There are hundreds of films that disappoint me ... they all start of well then the last third of the film just falls apart with silly car chases or gun battles
Man Of Steel let me down badly ... Superman is supposed to be the saviour of mankind and yet how many people must have died during that battle with the enemy ..building being demolished and God knows what ... utterly ridiculous

I would have thought Nicholas Cage was closer to Lee Child's description in the books. Younger, too. Tom Cruise... Never in a month of Sunday's

I was a bit disappointed with The Theory of Everything. It is certainly well acted but, based on Jane Hawking's book as it is, tends to concern itself with her story rather than her husband's. Jane's story isn't all that interesting really.

I was very disappointed by "Sunshine". Great premise, good cast, nicely written and visualised. The story proceeds well and then in the final third turns into a mindless slasher flick. Very disappointing bearing in mind the build up before hand. Great soundtrack though.
In contrast, I had low hopes for "Event Horizon" but that turned out to be a rather fine film.

Having watched Hawking, in which I thought Benedict Cumberbatch was brilliant, I wasn't sure I 'd like it, but I thought that Eddie Redmayne was magnificent.

Hannibal. I suspect it is reasonably loyal to the book, so maybe I should criticise the book as a load of revolting bilge.

Watched Ex Machina tonight, interesting concept but I hated it, disturbing ending and was left feeling that was an hour and a half of my life I couldn't get back.

Butbutbut ... Oscar Isaac!
It's not a film I can say I enjoyed ... but the performances of everyone involved are brilliant.

Full Metal Jacket - thought it was so bad, we walked out! (have never done that before, or since).
Watched recently for the first time in years, with our son, Mary Poppins - that film is so slow and boring! Sure, it's got some good songs, but it is dull, and the boy didn't like it either.
I asked for a classic foreign film for my birthday, Babette's Feast. Blimey, it's slow and bleak. Only watched half, the singing lessons seemed to go on forever. Not watched the rest.

However the film is a bit lame anyway, too! I couldn't be bothered with it, was not interesting. I understand the books are a lot better.

Sort of amusing, though - will probably watch it all just to find out what happens.
