Have been watching the ISU Grand Prix finals on Eurosport, including the juniors. The standard was fantastic. Some of the lads were performing quads. One of them was just 15. Even the 17 year old lads in the pairs were performing one handed lifts.

Oh shoot! I love ice skating but don't have Eurosport. I had read there's some very good young ones coming through.

No Brits it seems sadly. I think our education system and lack of funding makes it difficult for our youngsters to achieve the same standards as for example the Russians and Japanese, especially in the mens', ladies' and pairs. Our youngsters struggle with triple and quad jumps which are essential in top competition these days even at junior level. We've done better in ice dance in the past.

I just saw this thread and thought Oh NO!!! dont say I have missed some skating. Was it hidden on the red button? But of course it wasn't on Freeview TV at all. Such a shame we get to see so little now. I remember when I was young we used to watch all the coverage devotedly and it was a top show.

Yes, it was a regular feature on BBC and ITV in the past. I can remember seeing all the skating greats going right back to the early 60s.
Then it went to Eurosport and was lost to many TV viewers. I only caught up with it again when we got Virgin TV and by then the scoring system had completely changed.

Have been watching the European figure skating championships. There is a British couple in the pair skating competition. The lady is 37 years old, has three children and gave up competing for 13 years. Remarkably after the short free programme they are in the top 12 to skate in the long free. I will be rooting for them.

Really annoyed with Eurosport. Recorded the non-live coverage of the pairs free only to find it had been replaced with non-live coverage of skiing. Could have understood it if the skiing was live but it wasn't. So frustrating. Why do they do that?
On a more positive note, we have a lad through to the men's free final, currently lying 16th.

Freeview alert!!!! Yes, there is some skating on!
There is a two hour highlights show of the World Chamionships on Sunday April 2 from 1.00-3.00 on BBC2. There is also, I have now spotted in RT, red button coverage from Thursday, times and broadcast length all vary but several hours each. Too long for me this week but I shall record those highlights.
RB Thursday, pairs, 4.40-8.15pm Friday, women, 3.45-8.15pm Saturday, men, 8.35am-1.15pm

Flipping eck that pairs skating was tense towards the end! The Chinese pair were very good but I wanted the German pair to win it.
