Don't like this girl in the blue, the second skater. She's very lacksadasical.

Just finished watching it and very proud of our girl! 21st out 25.
And the first quad by a senior woman! Glad I saw that. She did make me laugh though, when she thought she'd got 4th and then realised they hadn't added in the score for the short programme yet. Her little face dropped like a stone and then lit up!

After numerous interruptions, I finished just before The Archers! Very enjoyable I thought. Of the also rans, I particularly liked the girl from Azerbaijan. And I couldn't believe I was watching a British individual skater perform so well. She was extremely graceful IMHO.

She was! The only thing that stops the British skaters is the lack of technique. These days you have to be able to do at least a triple-triple. And if you can tack a double on at the end, all the better.

Sometimes with the quad jumps I feel they look really ugly but that girl from.... oh I have forgotten where she came from! Was it a Stan? Anyway she just popped it out without any obvious build up, build up, build up. An excellent effort. And cleanly landed too.

I have just found the Ice Dance coverage, which was online only not on the RB, on the iplayer. I think the show lasts five hours so that's my afternoon sorted even with a FF through the rink cleaning section. I am very happy as I thought they might not include this one.

Oh good! That's my afternoon sorted as well. Will take the dog out and then settle in for an afternoon of skating.

Well this was interesting. They first couple were from Lithuania and the woman was called Alison Reed and spoke with an American accent. So I googled her and she is American with an American dad and a Japanese mum. Her older siblings dance for Japan. She became Georgian to dance with one partner, then Israeli to dance with the next and is now Lithuanian! Presumably dual nationality only because you wouldn't want to suddenly find you can't get back to the States I assume. But how odd to change nationality three times with no tie to any of the countries, unlike her siblings who get Japanese nationality through the mother, as Alison no doubt could. Talk about an international search for partners!
I didn't know the commentating couple, Penny and Nick, had retired so we have new people in, who were 15th after the short programme. I have to say I prefer Robin Cousins but this may be their first shot at this.

I loved that first dance! Beautifully smooth and elegant.

But the second one is dead dull.

The Finnish couple were lovely to watch. Very balletic. And he was throwing her around his neck like she weighed no more than a feather.

But I also loved the dubstep dance! Some original moves and lifts and great transitions.

Bit surprised the French didn't do better. Those deductions killed them.

Of the early birds I loved GB (we aren't last again!!!) I too liked the Finns and the Polish dub steppers.
I'm in the last group now. I think the commentary by the skaters has improved over the hours. His main fault is forever saying Erm. Hers is not finishing her sentences.
Not a spoiler because I won't say how well they did their skate but I just watched the Canadians dance a beautifully choreographed programme dedicated to their friend Denis Ten, a skater who was murdered last year by two thieves trying to steal mirrors from his car. What a waste of a life.
