OMG! I had no idea about that happening to Denis Ten! That's awful. He was a bloody good skater as well. Oh that's a shame.

I've quite enjoyed listening to the commentators, they've been quite funny in parts. But you are right about the erm!

I think this is the first year since lifts were introduced where the skating is getting back to be ice-dancing. It went through a stage of being focused purely on big lifts and became the poor cousin to pairs skating. But it is getting its own personality back, I think. The recent changes and additions have made a big difference.

Well I thought that was a lovely competition. There were very few mistakes throughout the whole field. The number of times in past years you saw misfired twizzles etc but this year I thought the standard was really high. And yes, they seemed far more into the dancing. I love that slide move they introduced this year.
I think a shot game for whenever Nick says erm could add another dimension to one's viewing! Paralytic by the end of the first group, lol! Just the men's to go now but I shall save that for tomorrow or Monday.

Not keen on the backpack lift! First ugly move they have made.

I'm saving the men's until tomorrow as well. Plenty to watch tonight for once. Altogether Now, Impossible and the gymnastics.

.....wish they would identify the music being played..it would be nice to know...and I miss Robin Cousins in the commentary box....very articulate and knowledgeable without being too technical....not keen on the current crop...three in a commentary box is seldom a good idea....

They usually do at the start. It appears as a subtitle at the bottom of the screen.
I'm watching the men and I'm very surprised at Alexei Bychenko. He's skating this like he can't be arsed. No drama, no acting, just waving about between jumps. And now he's fallen. Not surprised.

I'm about half way through and so far it's been pretty rubbish. Hardly a clean routine between them.

Ever since the quad jumps became de rigueur they go down like ninepins! A good final group though, including that Japanese chap who gets hundred of Pooh bears thrown on at the end, lol.
Of the also rans I liked the routine of the French guy, just a shame about the execution! And that Russian skater who danced to Carmen is 24 now yet still looks about 12!

Just watched Hanyu and you can barely see the ice on the one side of the rink for the Pooh bears! Fantastic performance though!
As for quads, TBH, I would rather just see a clean routine with lots of triples than quads where they fall on their backsides twice. The falling takes you out of the performance.

I enjoyed the highlights at the weekend , especially the mens. I did however watch John Curry's gold medal programme the other day, and despite them being excited about a triple, the fluidity and grace appealed more to me than the athleticism nowadays.

Found a T + D routine that I've never seen before!
The commentators don't know when to STFU but otherwise is really good.
