No. AFAIK, they just do a short programme with set elements and the free now.
Well I have started the pairs and have seen four couples. I think you often see some nice skating down that end of the table and enjoyed both Belarus and Hungary. However... what was going on with the Israeli pair? He looked as if he was in a major strop all the way through and they just seemed completely disconnected. Even the French were better than these two! So I already disagree with the result as the French were below them, 😂😂.

What were the Israeli couple wearing? I think I know who you mean but just to check.

Was it a pale blue and grey combo? She is 18, he is the older chap who has been around for years with different partners. Strong as an ox but sadly not as graceful as a gazelle, 😂. He does the power lift where you take one foot off the ice whilst she is in the air. Looked a right misery, anyway.
I didn’t like the James Bond Russians but I did like the Queen Russians. However my favourite routines were the two pairs of Canadians. I thought they were just lovely, even if not perfectly skated. But a lot of couples seemed a bit scratchy to me, no doubt because if the impact of covid. Still marvellous to watch though!

Ok, so... I get that doing 5 quads is a huge deal. I understand that but... that's all Trusova has IMO. She has no connection to the music, no feeling for the dance, hardly any transitions.... it's not fun to watch. She's basically just a jump machine. It's just a shame to me that she gets massive technical points without being as good a performer as some of those below her. Not only that, you get a ton of marks for just having a go and not actually landing the jump. So for me, I really enjoyed Japanese Matrix woman, Karen Chen with that Oriental music which really suited her, and Leona from Belgium. Also, the very first skater from Netherlands, just 16, was lovely and moved from 24 to 17 so bravo to her. Men’s tomorrow I think. No doubt it will be quadtastic but to me they are no fun if they aren’t landed and like Trusova, just replace the artistry.

I have watched 3/4 of the men’s free and they have been going down like ninepins. Here’s hoping the final six stay upright.
Just heard Robin’s co-commentator (I’m not very keen on her) describe the top Japanese guy as: Half man, Half alien, Half fairy. 🤔

Well I shall name no names in case you haven’t watched the Men’s but I have to say I thought the skate by Spoiler below was stupendous. Nathan Chen

Wow. That Snake Charming dance...... That was extremely entertaining. I preferred it to the Canadians who nudged them out because that Joni Mitchell track was so slowed down I started thinking about something else. And the French number 1 couple didn’t bother to come as they have their spot earmarked! As the woman commentator said, if they had been in the top 3 that would have meant extra Olympic spots so an odd decision (but supported by the French skating authorities). A very enjoyable set of shows though. 👍

I've found the Grand Prix skating on Discovery +. I'm watching the women's single from Vegas as there's an African-American skater I've never seen before. Her skating is ok but the dress she is wearing is amazing! It's an ivory drape across the front of her body that opens out into a skirt and has a beautiful sprinkle of diamante spilling down the front. But what makes it so great is that the base material is exactly the shade of her skin so you can't see it until the camera gets up really close. It looks fantastic on her!

Hanyu isn't skating again. He's not competed since his bronze in the Worlds. I wonder if we will ever see him again.

Hanyu is hurt. He has ligament damage to his right ankle which might keep him out of the Olympics.

Oh no. It might be a good time for him to retire then. There's two young Japanese skaters who deserve the chance, IMO
