I really enjoyed that.
(I hope they do more with Hugh Dennis this series, I like his put upon um, demeanour, is that a word? You know what I mean.)

Yes it’s demeanour, I agree I like him in anything so I’d be quite happy to see more of him in this.

Enjoyable first episode. The initial disaster, and then it is built on. Loved the "tech guy". NOT sure about "Lucy"'s new hair cut. Quite severe - although she does suit it. Perhaps they could have written it into an episode?

Loved this last night. Lee Mack is magic. So deadpan. As is his wife. In fact, the whole cast. Brilliant telly!

I have tried to watch Not Going Out because I think Lee Mack is one of the funniest people on television.....just not in this particular programme I'm afraid. Yes, his dead-pan, quick fire delivery is there but the whole premise on which the thing is built is tired and cliched in my opinion. Idiotic man-child always getting into silly scrapes plus contemptuous, superior (not to mention, unlikeable) wife and in-laws, all with entirely predictable dialogue in entirely predictable situations. Add in the audience laughter track - something I never like - and it completely fails to make me even raise a smile, never mind laugh. It is such a disappointment and, after yet another attempt to enjoy it, I give up once again.

Agree about her hair ? Why ? Her mouth is too wide to do the cute elfin pixy look. Love Lee Mack but these newer upisodes are not as funny as the early original series BUT still better than much of the comedy offerings on TV currently. Glad the kids have been axed. SO not funny ... Overall I enjoyed it though. Just realised Lucy’s mother is Jim Bergeracs original wife, Charlie Hungrrfords daughter 🤦♀️

I love the barely surpressed loathing on Lucy’s father’s face when he’s talking to Lee !

Another cracking episode. Lee's dad was great.
It's a shame Vicky doesn't like it. I was going to post that it's not always man child Lee getting in to scrapes. Sometimes Lucy is the bad guy and sometimes the in-laws or other characters.
It doesn't always follow that formula at all, and tonight's episode was an example of that.
It reminded me of the Christmas haunted house episode which was one of the best.

I love Lee’s Dad, he’s so awful ! I have this to watch too. I saw Dinner Ladies Diaries advertised on catch up so I watched two episodes of that, I never saw the series only odd episode, but this was well worth seeing, very funny.

Great episode - so well written. Bobby Ball is wonderful as Lee's hopeless dad. His spats with Lucy's father are classic. "You're just upset because I am better at mamograms than you!" I read a while ago that the writers base episodes on things that HAVE happened to friends or colleagues. Obviously they expand the idea but there is a basis in truth.
