Starts next Friday at 9pm. Website says Lee and Lucy have been married 7 years,so somehow we go forward in time. www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b088pm6zAnyway it always has some good lines in it.

One of the episodes has Susie Dent and Emma Bunton in a hot tub, so there's a reason to watch.

Although later series have not been as good, even a poor episode is still miles better than many sitcoms.
I think the advance in time - and the inclusion of children - is inspired.

I have always loved this. Daft as heck, but it always makes me laugh.

Very enjoyable first episode - and a simple idea, the forgotten Wedding anniversary.
LOVED Lee 'pretending' to play hide and seek with the children while he set the table - "are they under the table? No. Are they in this cupboard? No. Are they behind the curtains? No. Are they....."
Little voice from the window "We ARE behind the curtains!"
Some great lines, a tightly written script and good characters. Welcome back NGO.

We watched it last night after a recording of Would I Lie To You. MrRoz hasn't watched the earlier series but surprisingly enjoyed it was much as I did. A Lee Mack-athon!

Apparently the story ideas are based on things that HAVE happened to the writers - or to friends of theirs. Forgotten anniversaries is a classic but the way this was written was SO clever. Never crossed my mind that Lee had had to be reminded.
The argument on the train ("what colour are my eyes?" - and Lee silently asking the couple sitting opposite) was great.

I thought this was a weak start to the series but it has time to improve I suppose, didn't like the kids, made it seem too much like "outnumbered" .... but it's a bit like in Frazier when niles got daphne, kind of spoilt it !

Agreed. Not a good start. The combination of one-liners plus whacky/surreal situations - helped by Tim Vine and Katy Wix - helped keep it worth watching up to now. I can't believe Lee Mack will retreat into plain family domesticity for the rest of the series - we'll see.

Caught a bit of the second offering .... still not impressed .... too kiddy based .... think Lee Mack has sold out a bit and is too good for this type of boring "outnumbered" sitcom stuff. A shame but I think it was running out of steam when Tim Vine left and they brought his father into it and they started fantasy themes...

I didn't laugh once at the first one but was going to give it a second chance. But then I just couldn't face it!

I enjoyed the first one, but the second was predictable plot wise. I'll stick with it though.

I love Lee Mack's quick-wittedness on panel shows but, to me, this is a disappointment. As has been said upthread, it is very predictable....and I really don't like Lucy as a character. Having watched the first two episodes I won't bother with it any more.
