If you don't have breakdown cover, you have to call out a local garage to help you.
Could it be Hardy was just trying to establish a car connection between Laura and Jim?

I'm getting really confused about this now. Ellie received a phone call and then reported the conversation to Hardy, that Laura had confirmed that she had called Atwood's breakdown service. But we never saw Laura refer to cars or breakdowns at all. In her interview she said she'd been to the pub, stayed there until the early hours and had a lot to drink, then walked home across a field when she was attacked. She wasn't driving.
In Jim's interview with the police, they asked him about dates and if he'd attended Laura's car. He did say he remembered her from her Red Clio and that she was blonde and pretty. So something doesn't add up. Might he have attended her car on another occasion? Could this be the mix-up between June 2 2014, the date Laura gave in her interview, and June 7 2014 (which was a Saturday), the date the police are asking about?

Yes, someone seems to be mixing something up and I don't think it's us! Jim actually said "long hair" not "blonde hair", and he also thought it was about a year ago. Nira has long hair and her attack was a year ago - Laura's would have been 2 years ago. But if Jim's thinking of Nira, his story doesn't square with Nira's breakdown truck not turning up. I suppose it's possible Nira isn't telling the whole truth and there's another reason she wouldn't go to the police. Or if Jim's thinking of Laura, then you're right, it couldn't have been "just before" her attack since she had been at a pub for hours, drinking not driving - could well have actually been 2nd. June, not 7th.

I suppose it is possible that he picked her up and fixed her car noting that she was pretty and probably that she was alone/living alone etc. He may then have followed her and raped her at a later date. Although it might sound strange 'opportunistic' rapists often do know a person slightly or are aware of them. They may have sat next to them on a bus, waited at the same stop and know where they get off, they may be in a pub and regularly see the person go home alone or out for a cigarette. They may have spoken to them in passing or as in this case whilst their car was repaired, a nice friendly chat nothing creepy. What they are banking on is that you would never think that the nice friendly man at the bar who moves out of the way for you and let's you order before him is actually a rapist waiting for an opportunity and it might take many weeks before they try or they might find the opportunity all in one night. Rape doesn't take that long, there isn't any preamble in most cases (in this case he tied and gagged her after knocking her out - that gave him time to prepare and make sure she was defenceless). Opportunistic rapists will often have a woolly hat or balaclava in a pocket or close by and will usually hit you from behind, often banging your face into a wall or floor etc.

Arghh, who is it!?
The continuity announced before Emmerdale was promoting Broadchurch and said something like "We find out who the kil-attacker is at 9pm."! He must've remembered at the last minute that she wasn't killed and she's still alive.😳

Well! I didn't expect that, but it did tie the threads up nicely. Leo really was a nasty piece of work, and obviously still didn't see what was wrong. Glad that Trish was showing signs of being able to move on.
Good old Maggie, at the end! I'm not quite sure what Paul's plans were - I think he was just leaving Broadchurch, but it was a bit ambiguous.

It was all tied up, I never thought it was Ed, Trishs husband or the mechanic but I didn't really register Leo. When Miller asked who the other victims were and he said "I didn't ask their names. Was that rude?" He didn't even say it sarcastically or mockingly or arrogantly. What is wrong with him?! I was still thinking that the owner of Axehampton was going to pop up because I've seen that actor in loads of stuff over the years and he was in that one scene, about 2minutes, and was never seen again!
It's a pity there isn't going to be any more as I've enjoyed it.

I guessed when Lewis was falling apart in the interview that it would be Michael. The outcome was horrible and chilling. Leo was just so cold and unmoving. It was more frightening than any graphic depictions of violence.
At least the ending raised a smile from me:
Miller: Shall we go to the pub? We've never been to the pub. Do you want to? Long silence........ Hardy: Nah.
They really are The Odd Couple and I will miss them.

I thought it was the best possible ending.
A truly evil villain, properly sociopathic. The line about the victim' names, and also "It's only sex" were, as vicky says, chilling.
I actually felt a bit sorry for Michael, who thought he'd found a savior only to discover Leo had his own, much worse motives.
I liked the hopeful ending for Beth and Mark - where they may not be together, but they would finally be able to move on.
And I totally had the vicar bang to rights (a minor victory, but I at least figured out SOMETHING!

I am glad it was Twine Boy, always disliked him! I was a bit surprised at Michael though, what a shame he got involved with Leo.
The thing that bothered me with Mark is that he still has two daughters and if he killed himself over Danny, he is leaving them. I think that Chloe would have been terribly hurt and would have expressed that more vocally to Mark.
Overall, I really enjoyed this.

I think for Mark the point was he no longer felt involved with his girls. (I remember seeing some stats for the number of divorced/separated dads who lose contact with their offspring within two yrs and was staggered at how high it was.) Mark was one of the acting highlights of this series, IMV. Leo was definitely a few neurons short in the processing emotions department. The grooming of Michael was a bit rushed. I was so glad the perp was not Tom, as Ellie's distress would have made for upsetting viewing. I, too, was expecting it to be the Rev, just cos we had no reason to suspect him.

Oh, I shall miss Hardy and Miller Sorry, the vicar hadn't done anything criminal. I said last week he was having a crisis of faith and would leave the church.
