I think it will be Kim Joy. She's been the best so far and it looks as though her showstopper will be stunning.
I do feel sorry for Rahul. That was such an unlucky thing to happen, especially to such a normally nervy person anyway.

Cannot help but wonder why the producers did not ensure the tent was suitably cool if the temp was 32 as Paul mentioned in the first part. How hard would that have been - put some shade at the sides and bring in lots of fans. That shattered jar could have really hurt someone!
None of the show stoppers particularly appealed to me - not a feast for the eyes anyway. KJ would win if it was up to me...

I want it to be Ruby but I think it will be Rahul.

Rahul gets it.....
He was such a star at the beginning of the series but sadly some parts of social media have turned against him. I think he IS as shy and diffident as he comes across. Good luck to all the finalists - there is no big cash prize, just opportunities if they want to take them.
Both Ruth and Kim-Joy will do well with books, Kim particularly if she demonstrates her decorating skills.

Well, we know where Rahul gets his wibbling from! That was an odd follow up. Usually a lot of them are doing something with their baking.

Might depend on how much they want to share with the viewers. I liked the idea of them getting together in groups.

Not sure what the camp fire had to do with a GBBO final....Doughnuts looked great, Kim’s the best - Showstopper wasn’t that great from any of them (I had seen better this year) and Rahul’s looked as if he had mushy peas on his.
Should have been either Kim or Ruby.

I agree. Rahul shouldn't have won, behind as he was in all but the showstopper. Still, well done to them all.

For once, I disagree with the winner. Rahul did do some amazing bakes over the course of the competition, but both last week and this were iffy, to say the least. I really think Kim-Joy should have won.

We recorded it to ff through the adverts.
I felt for Rahul when his jar shattered - he looked so perplexed but this is the first series when I've not agreed with the winner. His "show stopper" looked extremely unappetising and a bit of a mess, to be honest. His doughnuts were overdone with the decorations. Buttercream? On a doughnut?
Kim-Joy's doughnuts were definitely a winner - don't eat them myself but wouldn't have said no. Her decorations were superb; sadly, while the idea of her showstopper was unique, it didn't quite live up to her others. I like her very much and think she could do well with a book on cake decorating.
I like Ruby also and think she'll do well if picked up for a television series - she has a personality although if she IS taken up by a channel I hope she's not over exposed as was last year's winner who was here, there and everywhere.
Didn't understand the fire pit technical - a step too far for me, and to give them one tiny work table was definitely a challenge. Good to see Kim-Joy at last winning a technical - although none of their pitta breads looked appetising - who can blame them especially working in 32 degrees? Heard ruby say she wouldn't complain about the heat in the tent again.
I'll look forward to next year - it's the only cooking competition we watch and we'll miss it now. But I'd like to see them getting back to the baking basics and maybe try a week of wheat free baking - see what is made of it; after all, they had a vegan episode. In the event of high temperatures which would be even higher in the tent with the ovens on, I hope they invest in some form of air cooling.
Up early to make my Christmas puddings.

With regards to the pitta: despite the success of last year, I can't help feeling there's still a touch of paranoia about the change in channel. So often it seems to be "the first ever", "the biggest ever", "the most difficult ever". It's like they think people will turn off if there's not some major twist, whereas IMO such things won't bring in more viewers and existing viewers are happy with the way it is.
EDIT: In Celebrity Hunted AJ Pritchard and Louis Smith succesfully made toasties on a hot stone over an open fire, so maybe it is a useful skill!

Not sure about the winner Rahul, some of his earlier bakes were exceptional as were Kim Joy and Ruby but I think none of them really stood out last night in the final, Any one of the three could have won it,on their offerings. I saw on the BBC news this morning a story claiming that Rahul won it among controversy as he was allowed an extra 15 mins, which is absolute codswallop. He had the same time as everyone else.He was just unfortunate to have his jar shatter in the heat which needed cleaning up and any contaminated food clearing away. But never let the truth get in the way of a good story eh.

I think Kim Joy opting to do just one flavour of cake on her show stopper meant Rahul edged ahead. His flavours were out of this world judging by Paul and Prue's comments. Ruby's show stopper did not come out the way she hoped so I think she was probably 3rd.

I had a smile at the glimpse we got of the unicorn on Ruby's cake. I think it would rank alongside the hedgehogs on An Extra Slice!
