Did they say why Arlet (Arlette?) was in the car?
Do only senior detectives carry guns in the Netherlands?
Overall, I liked the finale and that it was the newbie who came good in the end.

I don't know when the car accident happened. Does anyone know? It wasn't clear, part of another story. They were supposed to have started filming a new series this month, tentative move to September.

Did I miss a scene the filmed in the Rijksmuseum before Rembrandt's Night Watch? I saw the Vermeers but cant remember that one. Marc Warren said that they were filming there and had to stop as a terminal patient was brought in to see it as his last wish before he died.
I was very worried for Trojan during that finale! I told myself they will never kill the dog, there would be uproar, but was unconvinced.
I assumed the crash was the one caused by this Vissier person about whom I knew nothing. Did I doze off at one point? So that was Dahlman trapped in the car and Arlette was thrown from it into the canal. But I thought Dahlman was injured in a police chase nit a social jaunt with both VDVs.
Enjoyable though. I too liked the.pathologist, and Cloovers, the little fashion maven.

Perhaps Peit's former boss, knowing the game was up, targeted him and Dahlman when they were "off duty" and Arlette was in the car too?
Did they say that young Cloover's Mother - who he says he has to care for - died 9 years earlier???
Is he a Norman Bates? I am hoping I mis-heard that bit.
Overall it was a good series and the last episode was very well done.

I really enjoyed it, but I wasn't too keen in the man himself. Was Barry Foster as dislikeable in the original.??

They definitely said the mother is dead. I assumed he used her as an excuse to avoid socialising with the team, nothing more sinister.

I was more worried about the dog than any of the humans! I have spent the series wondering what had happened to Arlette. Now we know but there hasn't been any mention that I noticed of the two grown up sons from the original, one of whom was also a policeman. I think the other one was a student. I think we saw The Night Watch in the first episode. It brought back memories of first seeing it as a teenager. They finally set the original theme tune free at the end and in what I thought was a rather nice version! I would like to hear more of that. I do hope we get more series eventually.

Every time I see that painting it feels like there's something wrong with it. And it's because there's no Carrot, Vimes, Nobby or Sgt Colon in it!

That's amazing! To be able to get that close to the painting to see each individual little blob of paint really shows how he got his effects.

I finally managed to binge my way through it, if you can call the watching of three episodes a binge. I really hope that there is more.
