Apologies if there's already a thread... Phantom of the Opera, 25th anniversary on now. Not how I remember the version I saw in the early 90s, when 2 friends persuaded me to go to 'a lecture at the BBC' and I didn't know, till we walked round a corner and there was the theatre, that they'd booked tickets because they knew I loved the music, but I'm enjoying this performance Wish I could remember who the stars were that long ago...

Sarah Brightman was one for a start (if it's the performance I'm thinking of) and Michael Crawford was the phantom.

I don't know if this is a regular weekend thing. Last week they showed the 25th Les Miserables concert from the O2. This week has been Phantom from the Royal Albert Hall and next week is Cats.

I enjoyed to Phantom too, and Les Mis. the week before. Andre Reiu was on last night in Israel. Am a fan of Mr. Reiu. Next Sunday after Cats, it's the last interview John Lennon gave. That's at 9 pm.

Boswell and Johnson's Scottish Road Trip Tuesday (6th) at 9pm.
Frank Skinner and novelist Denise Mina retrace Boswell and Johnson's 1773 journey. Apparently Frank is a bit of an expert of Dr. Johnson, so this could be interesting. Will be watching.

Wednesday (7th) at 10pm. Urban Myths: Les Dawson's Parisienne Adventure
Mini dramas about famous people. Written by Steve Pemberton, and portrayed by Mark Addy. It tells the (dubious) tale of when Les worked in Paris, as a pianist in a brothel, whilst trying to write a novel.....

I'll have a look at that. I was a Les Dawson fan and I read one of his novels many years ago. I can't remember the title, but it was a good read. I hope Mark Addy does him justice.

Boswell and Johnson's Scottish Road Trip was a very interesting hour, it was gone too far quickly. I didn't know much about either of the gentlemen, other than Dr Johnson wrote the first dictionary.Certainly no knowledge of their love of Shakespeare. Frank Skinner (to use his own words) is a fanboy of the good doctor.
Lovely scenery, Edinburgh (went there on my honeymoon) looked as grand as ever. I'm looking forward to next week's offering.

I have recorded this. I told Dad about it (he is descendant of Boswell) but he hasn't re-tuned his Freeview box yet. We'll watch it together when there's nothing else on.

Arhh, I haven't checked my recording, but as my machine can be temperamental at the best of times I'm guessing mine's probably failed as well.
I'm liking having Sky Arts. I've given up on Emmerdale on a Tuesday in favour of Master Of Photography. They're showing a musical each Sunday, so far has been Les Mis, Phantom, Cats and this Sunday Funny Girl from Manchester with Sheridan Smith. They show music concerts and had the Queen Live At Wembley show which is amazing. And I watched Urban Myths, last night's being about Les Dawson and written by Steve Pemberton. Great to have the channel.

I wish I could get it! It's annoying not being able to get it on the internet anywhere.
