Apparently the US relay team didn't bother to practice their changeovers. Didn't make the final and Michael Johnson not impressed.

I love Michael Johnson. His commentary is fair and of course knowledgeable.
Bronze medal for Tom in the diving.
And of course he could be there in Paris in 2024.

Joe Choong won the first ever individual Modern Pentathlon for men! He was brilliant. Bronze in the men's 1500m for Scotsman Josh Kerr! Gold in the boxing.

Best boxing result since the 50s I think and another potential gold in the offing.

I've really enjoyed these Olympics! Well done to the hosts Japan and to all those taking part.

Watching the boxing lass getting her gold - fabulous achievement! Well done Lauren.
Raised by her grandparents, sadly her grandfather died last year, so the presentation must be extra emotional for her.

Various recaps of the entire games on at the moment.
Rhythmic gymnastics - team of 5 young ladies in red performing acrobatics, ballet etc whilst casually throwing hula hoops (not the snacks!) to each other.
To the Onedin Line theme amongst other tunes...

I've really enjoyed these Olympics! Well done to the hosts Japan and to all those taking part. Ditto. In fact in many ways, rather like the Lockdown Strictly, I have preferred it. No screaming suits me, and the chats in the studio rather than yelling across a box in a stadium have allowed for calmer conversation and analysis of the sports I have watched. I didn’t see much at all of the athletics because I get fed up of it being treated like The Second Coming when we actually do far better in the other disciplines, but still have to watch endless hours of track and field. Much to my surprise I just generally preferred the Salford-based pundits, and the few reporters we had on site. Rishi Passad (sp?) did an excellent job I thought. I saw him commenting on quite a number of different events yet he seemed very knowledgable about all of them. I think he is excellent: he saved the Wimbledon court side interviews from being a cringe fest, he is always good at the interviews with winning jockeys at Royal Ascot, and he did a good job here, as did the others. So I think given the crap deal we had with the TV rights, they did in fact rise above that.

I am watching the closing ceremony. Nothing new though. Nice to see Laura Kenny carrying the flag. Didn't the Kennys do well? Did you see Jason get his Keirin gold? My goodness it was exciting!

I’m just watching the Women’s Omnium and the crash which wiped out half the field, sadly including Laura. Is it my imagination or have there been far more crashes this time? I don’t remember seeing anything like this amount before. Could a lack of competition be part of the reason? Mind you Sir Chris didn’t seem particularly fazed by them.
I saw online a clip of a marathon runner knocking all the water bottles off the table so those following couldn’t get any! Well that’s not very sporting is it? Unless he thought it was a jolly jape.

The closing ceremony - with the Ska band and the "day in the park" dancers was lovely. Good light show too.
Considering so much was against Japan with these Olympics they have been excellent. They can be proud of all that they showed us.

GB finish fourth in the Medal Table ahead of Russia and Australia despite under-performing in the Athletics and Rowing. Second best ever Olympic performance overseas by GB. Plenty to be proud of. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)
