Thoroughly enjoyed that - a sort of Jonathon Creek/Monk vibe set against stunning scenery.
But the ending...
(I did wonder how a DCI would be so low on funds and not have a property to sell, but of course it was explained. An expensive and heartbreaking process for so many couples).

I’m sure they won’t be! I quite liked it too, spent ages wondering who the young PC was - he’s the poor lad in Derry Girls isn’t he! And Alan Partridge's long suffering PA is Margo. And how odd is it to see 'Lucy' in bed with anyone other than Lee?

The filming was done very much in the style of DiP - shots of long beaches, etc. Nice way to pass an hour. Wonder if we will see (hear?) more of The Farting Granny?

Just looked at next weeks programme guide and see that immediately after Beyond Paradise the BBC are showing repeats of Death in Paradise when Kris Marshall was the detective! Why?

I laughed when the promo interviews all described the mum's cottage as tiny. Then we saw this lush detached house by the coast.
I was expecting some two up two down affair with really low ceilings. Perhaps posh producers think that house is small.
I mean they've got an en-suite bathroom with the spare room and a separate dining room.

Death in paradise on Friday is from the Ardal O’Hanlon era according to my TV guide

I also smiled at the size of the 'cottage'. I think the writers meant that it was low ceiling-ed which for Humphrey is a problem.
It certainly is very roomy!

It is a nice break from all the other police stories that I have been watching recently which have been very intense; not that that should be the reason to watch. I enjoyed it.

I loved ep 1. I was chuckling all the way through at least the first 10 minutes 😆

That was a stupid and rather pointless ending with the reveal and jokey aside about the handbrake, combined with the hit-and-run screaming affair makes me struggle with this.
Phil Daniels was good though.

Ep 2 was OK I thought. All about family & kids, and one can surmise that their "christening" of the boat at the end might succeed where the IVF has failed.
I didn't realise that was Ruth Madoc, with the huge chunks of cake, until the "In memory of" at the end. Presumably her final TV appearance.

I'd seen something in news about her being in it, along with something from Kris Marshall about it. I thought the story was okay, not brilliant, but as I said before, a break from the other police stories that I have been watching recently.
