This week was very different with the West African influence. The garment of the week was amazing!

I enjoyed this week's. Some of the garments were gorgeous. And I agreed with who went.

Best episode of the series so far! I didn't expect to find it particularly interesting but I was enthralled by the different ways, compared with what I'm used to, of design and construction. I was pretty sure during the pattern challenge who would be going home this time and I was right. I think it's the first time that the transformation challenge has ever produced something that had wow! factor for me but that dress with the spots on it was incredible followed by the stunning bou-bous for the made to measure. I think it was all made more enjoyable by the input from the Nigerian designer too. I LOVED the dress she was wearing by the way - she looked so elegant and stylish.

I enjoyed this (and I’m really not talented in this direction at all). Absolutely gorgeous dresses and agreeing with Vicky, for once the transformation challenge produced lovely garments and not something made out of the bottom of a bin bag. Loved the garment of the week.

Very enjoyable episode, so interesting. I love those waxed cotton, bright prints you see. I could have done with a MTM which had to be done from that! Personally I preferred the pink, flounced dress to the winner of the week, but that wasn’t helped for me by including orange and a light mustard yellow, two colours I’m really not keen on especially together.

I loved the blue one with a feather design all over it but I think finish was probably the deciding factor for the judges. Some of the contestants this year are really struggling with that aspect. On balance I think I would have chosen the winner's own transformation challenge dress as garment of the week but I suppose her made to measure one was harder and she really did nail it.

In all the series, the TC tends to produce wearable clothes when they have to drape. There's been a few with no armholes but usually they are functional and attractive.
I was thinking about the skill level this year. It's definitely not as high as former years but that has happened before. In S4 for instance, the skill level was a lot lower than S3 and S5. I think the odds are that some years will be like that. Plus most other seasons, the first 2 or 3 episodes are something using the skills they already have, like a capsule wardrobe or a bias cut shell top. This year, they have been truly thrown in the deep end right from week 1, using techniques and patterns that are not familiar.. So I do feel for them a bit.

I think we all know that in these programme they like to choose what they think is a representative example of people. They have all auditioned and been interviewed. I would imagine that occasionally one gets through who doesn't have that much experience but I think on the whole they do. It is the time factor that gets to them. If Asmaa had 14 hours to make her outfit it would have been lovely but not only did she not have 14 hours she made her work harder by using lace on top and also didn't produce the voluminous shape they were asked to do. So it was badly sewn and not what was asked for. I think she was lucky this week, because others were worse.

I agreed with who went this week. And the one who didn't is running out of people worse than them.
I will miss the one who went though. They had imagination and flair and I was liking them more and more. It's just a shame that their skill wasn't as good as their creativity.

That dress looked OK on the catwalk but was very poorly made. Such a shame. I like the winner's outfit and the one with the chevrons on the skirt.

That dress looked OK on the catwalk but was very poorly made. Such a shame. I like the winner's outfit and the one with the chevrons on the skirt. When it was described during the making I thought it would never work, then, when the model first appeared in it on the catwalk I was amazed at how good it looked .... until we were able to see it close to. It was a great shame but, as ever, finishing was a problem. Absolutely loved the garment of the week: I wore stuff like that when I was young. I couldn't decide between that and the chevron outfit which I thought was very elegant. The same went for the first and second in the transformation. The front runners are definitely beginning to emerge now. Oh,Asmaa's shoes!!!!! 💓💓💓 No wonder they got their own close up😁

I am amazed she can sew in those. So much pressure on her ankle ligaments when she presses the pedal

I didn't even notice them! I must have blinked. Beautiful black suede stilettos, heaven knows how many inches high. I am so envious of people who can wear shoes like that. I wouldn't be able to stay upright never mind walk in them.
